MONDAY, Aug. 1, 2005, 4:21 p.m. (jsonline.com) Point guard Hughes picks Wisconsin
Bo Ryan's 2006 recruiting class took a big step in the right direction today when Delafield St. John's Military Academy's Trevon Hughes announced his decision to attend the University of Wisconsin.
Hughes, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound native of Queens, N.Y., averaged 22 points per game for St. John's, a Division 2 school that plays in the Midwest Classic Conference, and was a second-team all-state pick on the Journal Sentinel-Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association and Associated Press teams.
Hughes' commitment marks the second straight recruit to choose the Badgers over Big Ten rival Iowa. Jason Bohannon is the other.
The Badgers have verbal commitments from Bohannon, a sharp-shooting guard from Linn-Mar High School in Marion, Iowa, and J.P. Gavinski, a 6-foot-10 center-power forward from Wisconsin Dells. They can make those commitments binding during the early signing period Nov. 9-16.

Good pickup for the Wisconsin program. Now I just wonder how long it is going to take the badger fans to tell everybody that Hughes is better than Smith and he was a better fit for the last schollie because he is a true point, oh wait a minute, now that I think about it......

I really like this kid he seems disciplned and can learn ryan's system quickly....the analyst in the article said the addition of the kid from Iowa this could be one of the most potent backcourt of the 2006 class...both will be in the top 100 of thier class
