What a great article! Bruce's comments were hilarious. Major props to JS for their work. now if only espn would catch up and put some UWM press on their front page. (Do you think I might be asking a bit too much?)

Well we have been getting some top 25 votes so you never know if we keep the wins going things could fall into place for now though one game at a time!!!!

Its really hard to get attention from espn when you are a mid major. GW and the Zags seem to the be the mid major poster boys. But fear not, we will get our chance to be seen on ESPN, they have to talk about us during the Kansas and WI game. And if we beat purdue they might just flash us for a couple of seconds.
I just dont want to get the cinderella coverage. Cuz then we will all complain about how sports writters are saying we are emerging as a great team. When in fact weve been a great team since Pearl got here.

we keep on winning and getting some good quality wins, and if Ed can turn it up...we'll get noticed, just wait and see.
Loved the article as well but my question is how reputible is this poll?

Now HERE'S a sign of improved coverage from the JS: www.jsonline.com/sports/coll/dec04/282074.aspThey sent a reporter ON THE ROAD (Chicago or GB doesn't count) for a non-conference game in December to cover UWM. Now that's a rarity. Kudos to the JS.

not only is it a good coverange and article, but note the placement...on the front page of the sports section, yes below the fold, and the picture is for the FUMU bastard, but the story is UWM. Also the picture is of MU past...not their rousing 78-60 win over SDSU. Let's remember here for a sec...what was the score we we played them....ohh yeah....95-52!
GO PANTHERS!

Well, you got the scores of both games wrong (76-60 and 89-54) but you are right about one thing, even the Journal-Sentinel is starting to stand up and take notice at our program. Kudos to Manoyan for an outstanding story and the sports editor for standing up to the Marquette alums at the paper.

Kudos to Manoyan for an outstanding story and the sports editor for standing up to the Marquette alums at the paper. Well, I believe we have a UWM alum in a prominent position as well ... Bill Windler, deputy sports editor, who is also in the UWM Hall of Fame.

....don't forget, if you like the J/S coverage of late, let them know!! Positive reinforcement is *just* as important (and perhaps even moreso...) than our critical messages.
Let Garry Howard know....ghoward@journalsentinel.com

I did my part to send an e-mail. Here is my letter I sent this afternoon and the response I received shortly thereafter from Garry Howard.
Sir,
I would like to thank you for the much improved UWM coverage and exposure so far this year. It means alot to myself and my family (most of whom attended UWM). As a huge basketball fan I appreciate that MU and UW will likely always grab bigger headlines due to money and conference affiliation, but the program at UWM is a sleeping giant with resources far greater than many realize. Once again thank you for the increased coverage such as sending Dan Manoyan to an actual road game outside of Green Bay and Chicago.
Respectfully, Mike Hernke
Michael,
Thanks so much for the uplifting e-mail!
We think UWM basketball is definitely 1-C material from here on out.
