My guess is that if we play Lawrence 9 more times after Wednesday, there will be a pretty good chance the series will be tied.
Goolsby's it will be. About 5 o'clock again?
I hope to see more of the board members there. It was nice to meet a few of you all last time.
UWM - 93 Lawrence - 68

UWM 92, Lawrence 60.
Lawrence has scored in the 80's several times, but they have lost two key players from 03-04. Nevertheless, they can score.
Hopefully they wont reach 60...I want to see some real defense from our guys.
Goolsby's will probably be packed with a bunch of Buck's fans prior to their game wed. If we have a good showing before the game, they will see that our fans do exist! Maybe we can get a few more hardcore bball fans to become interested in UWM basketball.

Great point about the Bucks fans, Freak. Let them all know we're loud and proud. Great meeting you guys the other day. By the way, if Lawrence tries to score in the 80s on Wednesday, there's absolutely no way they'll hold us under 100.

Would love to make it, but the only games I can make are weekend games since I teach nights M-R. Cheer extra loud, have an extra beer and I'll see you on the 20th.

My thoughts from last night's game (my first this year)...
I don't know about all of you, but I was very UNIMPRESSED with Boo Davis running the point last night. The team was much better when Hill was taking that role. Davis has shaky handle and simply can't run the offense nearly as well as Hill. Davis needs to get PT, but not at the point.
Ford was somewhat impressive, but I expected him to dominate more against a lesser, much shorter opponent. He seems to have good hands, but can be easily drawn into a foul on head fakes - could be a problem against better opponents.
Joah looked good. Ed was simply Ed (in a good way). McCoy is limited offensively but a strong rebounder - crashes the glass hard, very aggressive. AT looks much quicker and smoother. No one else really stood out, for better or worse.
Your thoughts?

My thoughts on Boo D. are that his handling skills are shaky and less than Hill. However, I think there is a trade off that you get more scoring options and explosive play with Boo. Remember, he is coming from playing the 2 spot.
Ford did have a fall for a few head fakes last night. I don't remember him doing that against the WBAll Stars. In the WBA game his defense was straight up, not flying at the ball. The domination down low thing,... they need to get him the ball more! The team sometimes is not even looking to post as an option.
I thought Joah had an off night personally. His 2nd half was much better. I still look at Joah and want to see a Clay Tucker type 3 man there. But Joah is not that type of player, he is more of the down low guy.
Ed was a bit cold, but played well. I saw him take some risks that are going to count against us on the defensive end against higher quality opponents.
McCoy filled his role well, defensive guy who crashes the boards... enough said. AT played well, but needs to be more aggressive and look to score. Again, the need to put the ball in the post more. And I think Allen Hanson showed some talent that will be beneficial in the future, just a bit raw now.

We looked okay. I agree with the observations Fenske and pnthr97 posted. We need to start feeding Ford and Tigert the ball more often.
I dont see a great halfcourt offense yet. Good teams will slow us down and take us out of our fast break game plan. Right now I dont see us being able to make the adequate adjustment.
The most depressing part of the evening was the lack of UWM fans at the game. Half of the stadium was Lawrence fans. Granted this was probably one of the biggest games in their school history, but we should still have at least 2,000 for any game, no matter if it will be a blow out. It was not until the 2nd half when the students came to life. The alumni never got in to the game.
Disappointing night overall. Hopefully we'll see more fans and a less sloppy team against Prairie View.
GO MILWAUKEE!

i didnt arrive at the game until the 2nd half (i was flauting the new t-shirt though - www.geocities.com/bruceismyhomeboy) but yeah the croud was dead. it felt like i was the only one yelling most of the time. it also seemed like no one else was offended by haveing 5 guys up near the top be louder that our student section. i tried a couple time to start chants, but it was like pulling teeth. i know there were a few other hardcore fans that showed up in the second half and that helped, but hopefully we will see alot more out of the student section once the regular season start. oh yeah one problem i have is the students that show up for games lookin like they are going out for a night on the town. its a basketball game....no blue striped button down shirts and jeans. if you need to look like a prep at least have a white button shirt with black and gold stipes fag. i cant wait for the regular season. i know i personally will be drunker and louder than ever. sucks im gonna be out of the town for the first regular season game though...

the first half was very sloppy, but i thought they came out pretty strong in the second. i don't understand why they didn't go inside more often, they clearly had a big size advantage. that makes me a little nervous. i thought mccoy looked stronger this game. he was crashing the boards hard. ford needs to stay on his feet when he's defending. he seemed to do a better job of that in the second half.
i too was really disappointed in the crowd. i know it's only pre-seson but still... the games are free for students and that showing last night was less than impressive. we really need to get the word out for the regular season. there's no reason why we shouldn't have a strong student turn out each time when school's in session. can anything more be done to get out the word???

The games are free for students and we can't get more than a couple hundred there? We need to work on this, fellas. That Lawrence heckler in the upper level was way too audible. He should have been shouted down in the first three minutes of the game.

The student section was pretty bad until the second half. It is hard to get excited over a DIII school. However, we made our last big push to the blow out once they became really involved in the game. (The Hobbit Cheer was hilarious). If our students can get there early and get on the opposition even before the game begins, then our team then has a huge advantage.
The alumni and general fans were pretty horrid last night. Thank goodness the Lawrence fans were mixed in with us, or else the stadium would have looked pretty empty. We need to change this fast.

I agree with all the comments posted above. Especially the one directed at the alumni. I'm an alumnus myself and it can get pretty aggravating sometimes having to plead with people to check out a team that's averaged 20 wins over the last three years and has made two straight trips to the postseason. Believe it or not, there is a need to remind people of this.

Bottom line, it's an exhibition game. Very few fans turn out for exhibition games.
I'm not worried about the attendance at all yet.
