Moreso does anyone have an update on him? I didn't get a chance to ask Jeter @ the celebration tonite to see how far along his re-recruitment is going.

Ryan will reportedly be in town this weekend on an official visit. He is currently weighing offers from UWM, Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Kent St., Toledo and Wright St. The best site for this information appears to be scout.com. Ryan will be visiting with another player, a 6-11 junior college center.

well, when you look at the list of schools you'd have to like UWM considering our recent success. the two Ohio schools could be wildcards being they're in his home state. i'd still love to have this guy play for us. while i'm all for getting these JUCO guys i'd like to see a true freshman so we get 4 solid years.

i think this could be Jeter's big landing of the offseason. Being able to re-convince someone to sign after there's been a regime change is never easy (especially when there's all new faces) and retaining Childress would help out tremendously.

According to hoopscooponline.com:
Our Ohio Editor Chris Johnson tells us that 6'3 James Douglas from Schoolcraft (JC) MI and 6'8 Ryan Childress from Cincinnati (Moeller) OH have both have been released from their National Letters-of-Intent from Wisconsin-Milwaukee and, as a result, will only have to sit out one year, instead of two, when they pick another school.
Why do they have to sit out a season b/c they were released from their LOIs?

Hey, Pantherholic: I don't believe that their Ohio editor has his facts straight. For instance, Al played for UWM during his true freshman year after being released from his LOI.

Just for fun, here are some NCAA Tournament fast facts on the six known suitors for Ryan Childress. Included are that school's number of trips to the tournament, all-time tournament victories, most recent appearance and deepest tournament run:
Bowling Green (4, 1, 1968, second round) Central Michigan (4, 3, 2003, second round) Kent State (3, 4, 2002, Elite Eight) Toledo (4, 1, 1980, second round) Wright State (1, 0, 1993, first round) UWM (2, 2, 2005, Sweet 16)

personally i think it'll be between us and Kent State. hopefully Jeter can work his mojo and we'll be reading this week in the paper that Childress will don the black & gold. If it worked for Young hopefully it'll work for him too.

That's what I was thinking: Kent St. or us. The choice would appear to be proximity and great success four years ago on the one hand vs. a high level of very recent success and several players you already know on the other.

Don't know how up-to-date this is but on JucoJunction.com, Childress is getting high attention from Akron, Duquesne and St. Bonaventure, medium attention from Dayton and zero mentioning of UWM at all.

That site is hopelessly outdated. That information is from the fall of 2003. The serious suitors appear to be UWM and the Ohio MAC schools.

Ryan Childress was in Knoxville yesterday and left with scholarship papers in hand. He is now a Vol.
Sorry guys. Then again, he is a good player, but one has to wonder if he skills are SEC caliber.

I agree, I just don't know if RC is an SEC type of player......but who knows. I wish him the best. Hey secret, who was on UT's campus with RC?
