According to yesterday's Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Wauwatosa East's Jerry Smith will pay what his coach George Haas calls a "personal courtesy" visit to coach Bruce Pearl at Tennessee. The paper cited Haas as saying that Smith will also visit Wake Forest and Wisconsin and that he recently received visits from Wake Forest, Wisconsin and Iowa. MJS quotes Haas as saying, "All indications are there's a good chance he'll declare this month.
If I was recruiting Smith, I think his back troubles would make me a little nervous - the paper says he's wearing a back brace due to a recently bruised tailbone.
However, I'd also love his outrageous athleticism, the fact that his jump shot got better last season and the fact that he gets other players involved and lets the game come to him instead of causing unforced errors by trying to take over games on pure athletic ability.
I don't know if he'd exactly strike fear into Tubby Smith's hear, but landing Smith would be a great start for Pearl.

Victor you go from not wanting any posting about BP to actually posting a link in regards to his recruitment of Jerry Smith. I knew you could change your mind- I saw this coming in fact I told my dad that Pearl would make some inroads in recruiting top players from the area esp Smith- I am still not sold on Smith being a top ten player in the country- His shot has not impressed me but he is quick. I have been wrong about players before-In fact I remember saying Ryan Leaf would be a better qb than Peyton Manning-0 Good thing I am not a gm

I talked to one of the Tosa East counselors yesterday, and he said just before Jeter was announced as our coach Ryan and Jeter had a 2 hour meeting at East with Smith, and that there were strong indications he'd be heading to WI.
