Torre Johnson was in the house at the All State Arena...he walked by me and I said
"Torre are you coming home for next season?"
He was shocked that anybody knew who he was and I talked to him for a few minutes, what a very nice and polite young man.
He said he was being recruited by all four teams playing at the All State Arena last night. Looks like he will have a tough choice to make in a couple of weeks!

Saw in a Cincy Enquirer article that Torre is also a target of Huggins & Cincy.

Why is he such a big recruit? Wasn't he 3rd team state this year? Or was that Elliot Johnson?

Good find, Kaygee.
Apparently, the signing was today.
Kansas JC Forward Inks with Big 12
by Chris Monter of Scout.com, April 20, 2005 at 3:30pm ET
Torre Johnson, a 6-foot-7 pound sophomore forward from Garden City (KS) CC, has signed with Oklahoma State. Johnson was a NJCAA first-team All-American last season after averaging 21.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He led the Broncbusters to a 23-10 record last year after posting a 23-9 mark his freshman season. Johnson holds the school records for most points in a career at Garden City with 1,306. He also holds the school records for most field goals made in a game (15), season (286) and career (547). He led the 2005 Region VI Tournament in scoring (23.7 ppg), rebounding (14.7 rpg) and blocked shots (2.7 bpg). Johnson was named Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Western Division Freshman of the Year and was named first team All-Conference last year. He played high school basketball at Milwaukee (WI) Juneau.
Johnson chose the Cowboys over interest from Arizona, Auburn, Cincinnati and Tennessee. He is a nice insurance policy, if Gerald Green remains in the NBA draft as expected.

Great news for Torre and another example of how kids from Milwaukee can compete on a high level. Now all we have to do is get a few more of these players into our program. Hopefully Coach Jeter can tap this underutilized resource.
Any reports on how Torre improved his game? I'd guess his shooting must be a lot better now than it was in high school.

He must have improved his shot and his dribble. I remember a raw talent who seems to have improved and I hope he tears up the Big 12.
