Anyone know of any other big men that we're looking at? even though he seems like a risk i would go after Maurice Thomas for 2 reasons: 1) Talent level 2) The only school pursuing him is LaSalle if he doesn't work out it'd be ok but you can't pass up a guy w/ his talent. i got a feeling he backed out of the first 2 places b/c they were on the other side of the country from where he's been and got homesick at the thought of being so far away. i can't really blame him for the TN debacle.

Jerry Meyer RivalsHoops.com Recruiting Analyst
Maurice Thomas, the No. 139 ranked player in the Rivals150, thought the third time was a charm and he had finally found his school. But unfortunately for the 6-foot-8, 200-pound power forward out of Philadelphia Lutheran (Pa.) High School, he will not be attending Tennessee after all. Thomas is back to a new start in his recruitment and is quite concerned that schools will be hesitant to recruit him now that things have not worked out again for him.
Rivals.com Back to the start for Thomas. "Tennessee got mad at me because my mother was unable to make it to campus after I visited," said Thomas, who has formerly been reported as having been committed to UTEP and UNLV at one time. "They said that since she didn't make it, they didn't think I really wanted to come. I had been telling them and everyone that I wanted to come to Tennessee, but my mom couldn't make it up there because my uncle was having surgery, and she needed to deal with that.
"Then they told me they had signed someone else, and it was too late for me."
The Volunteers signed 6-foot-8, 230-pound power forward Ryan Childress from Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Childress averaged 17 points and 11 rebounds per game last year and had signed with Coach Pearl at Wisconsin-Milwaukee before being granted a release.
Now Thomas is without a school to go to, and he does not have any schools except for LaSalle recruiting him.
"I don't even know what I'm going to do now," he said. "I'm back to ground zero. No one is recruiting me, and who know who will recruit me now after this situation.
"LaSalle is just to close. I could walk there right now. I would rather get away."
Thomas did mention one school that he would love to attend if it were possible.
"I love Wake Forest," he said. "I would go there in a second if I had a chance to go there."
For now, Thomas will stay on the AAU circuit with Blessed IJN and see what happens.

he went back to UTEP? he committed w/ them initially, then moved to UNLV and then to Tennessee. That rivals.com article is from the last few days. i say we at least talk w/ him to see if he's worth further pursuing.
