Packers...Aaron Rodgers.....comments? I think he is very young and since I don't live in WI anymore if he is the starter next year I probably wouldn't make much effort to watch 1 game. Which means my wife would be happy since we would no longer have to pay for Sunday ticket. Merry X-mas REK. I'm done with the Packer comments now I feel better.

but Rodgers is just bound for success! i mean look at the other QBs his coach took to the NFL: David Carr, Trent Dilfer, Akili Smith, Kyle Boller, Joey Harrington, A.J. Feely. i would like for you to find one of them that won't get into the Hall of Fame!
it could be worse though, they could've spent a first round pick on him and then a 2nd rounder on a WR when they sorely needed to bolster their defense.

I will always love my Packers. Brett looked like he was going to cry at the end of the game.

I will always love my Packers. Brett looked like he was going to cry at the end of the game. You stayed awake for the whole game? That is impressive! Isn't it? ;D I felt like they needed my support. You missed a few more touchdowns. And some "wonderful" plays. Sherman looked like he was going to be sick, too.

Sherman looked like he was going to be sick, too. Isn't that every play of every game? I'm convinced he's an idiot. At the very least, he certainly looks like one every time he's on tv.

Just b/c other Jeff Tedford QB's have not panned out in the NFL does not mean that Rogers will follow suit ;D although his Tedford's track record is not that good.

IMO if you draft a QB and hope that he will elad your team to greatness look no further than what the Bengals did, they took Carson Palmer and let him sti and learn, same thing with Steve McNair as well, this is not saying that Rogers is going to be just like those two right off the bat but it is possivble that a year or 2 depending on what Favre is going to do could be just what he needs. in response to aknowsense's first question i thought that he looked decent in the bit of the game that he got to play, yess he had the pick and the fumbles, but he still looked better than he did in the pre-season, and i think it shows just how bad the team in Green Bay is ths year, but i have no worries about Rogers at this point yet, he is no Joey Harrington(who just sucks to all things high and mighty), Akili Smith(who by the way only started one year for tedford), etc... say what you want but Dilfer one a super bowl (yes i know the defense was the reason, but he conducted teh offense and you can't win if you dont score points, and Carr has shown flashes were he looks to be good, but you wouldn't knwo since all he can do is take a 3 step drop and try and not get sacked due to his line being so terrible. sorry don't mean to go on and on, but this is a topic that has been hashed out around the house here many a times, so i have some foder for the fire........

I hate you Pantherholic! don't hate me b/c my team didn't get swept by the Vikings don't be pessimistic about the Packers people, i'm confident that Sherman and Thompson will put together the finest draft yet. after all, they are under the Ron Wolf umbrella and we all know how well Wolf drafted in early rounds: John Michels Craig Newsome Aaron Taylor Jamal Reynolds Antwan Edwards Vonnie Holliday Fred Vinson Derrick Mayes Brett Conway Bhawoh Jue Torrance Marshall Steve Warren Jonathan Brown LeShon Johnson

Carr was expected to save his expansion team franchise in their first year of existence? also dilfer "conducting" the Ravens offense was handing the ball off to jamal lewis and then let matt stover kick a FG. didn't the ravens go like 6 games w/out a TD? the bengals had too high of hopes for smith but no one really thought Harrington, Boller or Carr would produce instantaneously unless u walk into a situation like the Bears to where u don't have to have talent at the QB position to win.

Pantherholic, please don't try to rip on Ron Wolf. You will only sound like a fool by doing so. He was a GREAT GM, not just good. His percentage of success in the draft (and to an extent, free agency) has hardly been matched. the fact that he missed as much as he did the first round was due as much by the fact that he picked so late. Also, he was a master at obtaining as many picks as possible, and that often required trading down in the first. FWIW, I think perhaps the greatest failing of Sherman as a GM was his inability to realize the value of draft picks. He traded away picks like a kid trading baseball cards. Uggh. As for Rogers, both of you have a point. On one hand yes, Tedford's QB's have been less than stellar in the NFL. I am not convinced that Rogers was a good pick, but I sure won't call him a bust yet either. I think the Packers are doing the right thing, and not rushing Rogers into anything. He does need time to develop, and THEN we will see how good he is. It is simply far too early to make any real assessment of his ability.
