How about leave it as it is. The tournament is the best sporting event in the country. Don’t need to change it.

i could live with folding the NIT into the nCAA tourney and go to 100. have a 24 v 25 playin maybe, with byes for the higher seeds and the first round being 17v 24 / 25, 18 v 23, 19 v 22 and 20 v 21. Another thought: fold the third-tier tournaments (CBI/CIT), expand the NCAA to 128 and keep the NIT at 32. That's it and that's all. not enough teams in the CBI and CIT, theres what 32 combined teams?

If they expand, I’d recommend expanding to 96. That would leave 32 teams with a first round bye and 64 teams having to play a play-in round.
All conference regular season champions get an automatic bid, as do tournament champions. Any team that wins both gets a bye to the round of 64.
I know this is likely not how it would work in real life, and any expansion would be put in place to try to ensure that there are more middling high majors in the round of 64 than mid majors.

Up 26 spots in Kenpom to 234 yesterday. Looks like per the metrics we are the 17th luckiest team in the nation.
We are also 47th in tempo. Style of play was always an advantage for our team IMO and seems like that is playing out despite one saying it doesn't matter.
We've got Kenpom 221 and 226 this week at home. Get your friends and family out to Panther Arena this week. 📈

Up to 159 in the NET ratings...moved up from 178 previously as well.

I would imagine that our composite rating is now somewhere in the 185 range, about midway between all Division 1 teams. Quite a turnaround from a year ago.

Entering the YSU game, we sat at an average of #183 (high of #138, low of #238, NET #173) in the 52 computer rankings in existence: masseyratings.com/cb/compare.htmOf those 52, the approximately 1/3rd (17) systems which I'd assume are using unweighted data only - aka unbiased by any historical stuff - all have us grouped closely, mainly in the 140's to 160's. I'm unsure if the NET uses those BS factors, and I'm not sure if it's ever been made public whether or not it does. Anyways, the win over #122 YSU (#103 NET) should really help us!

I think looking at net rating is really only showing us how far the team has come in 12 months. HL winner still likely to get a 15 or 16 seed IMO unless we did something like run the table.

Believe it or not, YSU's NET is currently good enough that everyone is projecting them for a 14 or even a 13 seed depending on how other AQ's/conference tournaments play out. The other top HL teams are all in line right now for a 15 seed or better, thanks to the higher number than normal of low-major conferences having every team in the 200's or worse, which takes up the six 16 seed spots. So unless a 200+ HL team wins the AQ, the HL likely avoids a 16 seed this year. Projected tourney odds & seeds here: barttorvik.com/conf.php?conf=HorzAll bracketologists here: www.bracketmatrix.com

Go back to 32 teams and expand the NIT. Get the best to play. Let's keep watering down sports. How about this at least have a winning record to get into any sports playoff.

This would not be popular with those that have power - high majors. Way too much money is involved. Just think. There are 32 conferences. Only conference winners would qualify, and absolutely no one else. That is how it once was. The math is perfect right now. Decades ago, that is the way it was, just conference winners. But that is only a pipe dream.
