Article from January: 2022 SG ZACH HOWELL STILL UNCOMMITTED Dan Gibbs — Contributing Editor - NY2LASPORTS.COM
A highly skilled two guard from the 2022 class that is still available out of Missouri is Zach Howell. After receiving a pair of offers last year while playing with Yanders Law, Howell remains uncommitted.
Southern Illinois Edwardsville became the first school to offer Howell last April. A couple months later in June, Texas Tech also offered him. When talking about these two schools, Howell said “Texas Tech has great facilities and has an awesome campus. I love the coaching staff at SIUE.”
Other programs also showing interest in Howell include South Dakota State and Tennessee Martin.
The game of Howell has continued to take great strides as he is averaging 24 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists during his senior season at Springfield Catholic High School. Even while playing a very tough schedule, they have been able to achieve a 14-4 record so far this season.
Howell is a high IQ guard that also has an exceptional skill set. He is a high percentage sharpshooter from the outside with great range but can also make plays off the dribble. He also has good size in the backcourt standing at 6’5”. The senior has continued to round out his scoring ability on his way to scoring his 1,500th point earlier this season in December.
The senior is looking to make his college commitment coming up in March. With a couple months still to go until then, look for more programs to get involved with Howell as he has plenty of tools that will translate well to the next level.

Finally signed a shooter. It's been awhile. Super excited about this kid. He should be able to come in and contribute day 1. Texas Tech plays really good basketball, and he wants to come here. Good 👍

Good 👍 Not sure how much we should read into that TT offer. Stands out like a sore thumb. Similar to some of the phenom u offers some of those guys get.

Sorry but I'm not buying that Tx Tech offer unless it was done as a favor or as a way for Charlie Adams to try recruiting him again in a few years. There's no way he's choosing Milwaukee over Tx Tech if it's an honest offer.
Regardless, I'm looking forward to seeing what he can bring to the team!

Maybe the Texas Tech offer was as a walk on?

Fwiw verbalcommits had Howell listed as a Texas Tech recruit and not as a Milwaukee recruit, as recently as 2 days ago. Maybe a sneak attack recruiting coup?
In any case, a 6'5" shooting guard? Absolutely. Let's add shooter after shooter after shooter.

Also, I wonder if his connection with Robert Yanders, who I believe is the same Robert Yanders that played at Milwaukee Vincent in the 90s had anything to do with him choosing Milwaukee.

We have two Div 5 all state members as selected by State of MO coaches signed. Welcome Zach and Brian Taylor. Dylan Arnette will add nice size. All may get playing time if they learn Lundy’s system quicker than others. Will be interesting to see roster chemistry developed. I could be wrong but I think a healthy Browning and a confidant Hanc*** might help turn things around. Both can motor and play man to man. Time will tell.
