VMI is like The Citadel. It's hard as hell to recruit basketball players when they have to pick up a rifle after they graduate.

Former Milwaukee assistants under Coach Val, Omar Lowery (WI native) and Will Vergollo, will be looking for new jobs. A shame that Butler waited until April 1st (just because the buyout would be less) to let their staff go. A lot of positions are already filled at this point.

Yet, LaVall shouldn't have signed that into his contract to have the buyout lower if it's a bad move for the staff. Butler doesn't have the funds compared to other Big East schools.

I'm thinking that Collier might turn back to Thad Matta.

I'm thinking that Collier might turn back to Thad Matta. Ronald Nored is the name getting thrown out a lot. Never coached a college team, but he was a head coach in the G League. I see Jeff Boals' name too, who was an assistant under Matta. But I don't see Butler hiring an outsider who doesn't have a high winning percentage. 55-42 in three seasons at Stony Brook and 59-33 in three seasons at Ohio, where he currently is. In his first gig at Stony Brook, he inherited an NCAA Tournament team and did OK, then fell back as those players cycled out, then had his best year at 24-9 in year 3 before moving to Ohio. Won a #13-4 game at Ohio in his second year over Virginia, but the team was fifth in the MAC that year and got in by winning the tournament. Can we just, for a second, acknowledge the fact that a team went 17-8, took 5th place in the MAC, won the conference tournament and then got a 13-seed in 2021? The Horizon League is a god damn low-major conference now. This sucks. This right here is why we need to get out. We used to do well against the MAC back in the day. Anyway, his team was arguably better this year at 25-10 but didn't win the MAC Tourney as the three seed, so they got to the quarterfinals of the CBI.
