Hope is not a strategy.

Agreed but I don’t work for UWM Athletics so I can’t do much more than that. It doesn’t pay to be pessimistic all the time.

Continuously harping about past developments is not a strategy either. So is this discussion limited to expressing strategies? I failed to pick up on that. Maybe a thread should be started to discuss strategies. As if any of us here on this board are in position to execute them. What was that you said yesterday about "pretending"?

My take on the whole thing: *Braun has accomplished some things it seems such as baseball facility upgrade through partnership arrangement, non-men's basketball sports seem to be doing ok, apparently the athletic budget is being balanced, initiative for practice facility even if it is a slimmed down version, move back to Arena and upgrades there....
*All of the above is fine however it is negated by some glaring issues: <State of our flagship sport - mens basketball *Declining attendance, eroded season ticket base, loss of major sponsorships, reduced profile in community, total lack of public relations and networking skills in promoting the program.
All of the above are not totally due to her reign and have been systemic issues going back 14 years and earlier. When you add the shameful lack of support by the Administration combined with her ineptitude in handling of mens basketball program we have what we have which is really bad right now. Agree with Fran it is back to Ric era....
Continuity can be a good thing and sorely needed here. Problem is though Braun is incapable of promoting and stewarding the mens basketball program which if back to a level of respectability can lift all boats. Right now the horrible mismanagement is in danger of sinking the entire ship. What a shame...looks at the arena...it should be a showcase for UWM basketball and the university in total. It is being squandered. This may be drastic but here is what I would do:
<Fire Braun *Replace Baldwin, I know , I know..here we go again...instruct the new AD to follow the formula that worked for Haidet with Bo and Bruce (not Jeter). Hire someone who has sustained success as a head coach and shows actual track record of leadership abilities, not just because they were someones assistant...even if it is D@ or D3. Haidet did not stick with what worked for him and it was a huge missed opportunity but this is old ground for sure.... Ground hog day I know but maybe we can still once and for all get it right. Last bit of magical thinking...the administration hire the right AD and support the program financially and spiritually.
