People were complaining about the Crusaders name? I had no idea.
I always thought it was a dumb name. The Crusaders...lost. They lost every time. They were the Washington Generals of the middle ages. Even when they won, it was a fleeting victory followed by a crushing loss.
It's a dumbass name.

For those who don’t know, Valpo is no longer the Crusaders. They’ve just announced they’re the…Beacons.

That’s pretty good. Has some relationship to their motto, rolls off the tongue and gives plenty of mascot possibilities. Most important, it’s unique. There’s always a chance when a name change happens that you screw its up and become the 29th set of Golden Eagles. 😆
I like the Cleveland Guardians name too. Two good choices.

We might have barely snuck by MSOE. But at least we didn’t lose two straight exhibition games against D2 opponents within a week.

What a wonderful world!!!
Paul Oren in the Northwest Indiana Times:
"Stopping beer sales midway through the second half felt like a poor decision."

Not Valpo. yet the point is exhibition games. Right now on the SECN. Miles College leads Kentucky by 10 points late in the first half.

The saving grace for Valpo is they lost to two highly regarded D2 teams. One could argue whether that is better or worse than having a close win against a D3 team picked for the bottom half of it's conference.

Whatever happened to Valpo?! They at least used to pretend to be viable.

Whatever happened to Valpo?! They at least used to pretend to be viable. Any carryover from the Drew family is long gone. In college basketball, it's all about coaching.

The school plays in an awful gym and doesn’t really spend money. But they had a great coach who also had a son who’s a really good coach. Outside of Bryce and homer the school has never been good in basketball.

And it took Homer several years to get things going, but that was a much different era.

What do you expect from a school with Poop and Pee as their official colors?

Just checking some conference standings and noticed that our old pals UIC, Valpo, and Loyola are a combined 8 - 30 in their respective conferences. Those are PBS like numbers.
Carry on.

Changing conferences isn’t the magic pill to a successful basketball program that some think it is. A path to more money? In some cases (Butler) sure. To my knowledge, Loyola is the only program that left the Horizon, and had more success than they did here. I think Loyola will bounce back. Valpo and UIC ? Probably basement dwellers more often than not.

I forgot Kobe King transferred to Valpo and is averaging 16 and 4. Badgers could really use that now, huh.
