Tonight the UWM men's soccer team tied Wisconsin in Madison. The game was virtually dead even... UW scored in the 85th minute to tie it up. It would have been nice to beat them, but at the same time to not lose in Madison is an achievement. uwmpanthers.cstv.com/sports/m-soccer/recaps/092006aac.htmlUWM is now 3-5-1, UW is 4-3-1. UWM plays FIU this saturday.

I was keeping track of the game on uwbadgers.com while I sat on the couch and watched TV. Very disappointing to have the lead that late and only leave with a draw.
Oh well... let's hope for better luck on Saturday.

FIU is a decent team, but UWM should be able to take them. The game after that is a home game against NIU. Those games should both be wins in my opinion.

FIU is a decent team, but UWM should be able to take them. The game after that is a home game against NIU. Those games should both be wins in my opinion. NIU will actually be one of our toughest opponents. They are having a very good season so far, currently 5-3-1 and ranked #7 in our NCAA Region: www.nscaa.com/SeniorResReg.php?it=168&dv=1&rg=Great_LakesBut they also recently lost 5-0 to a #4 Washington squad that we took to OT on a neutral field. I guess it all will depend on what Milwaukee team shows up (the one that finishes, or that one that doesn't. With the way this Panther team has been playing so far (not being able to finish in close matches), if this game weren't at Engelmann, I'd say it would be a loss. But being that it IS at Engelmann, I predict we move our home record to 4-0 on the year, as well as have another 1,000+ in attendance (it's on a Sunday and is for a traveling trophy, so NO EXCUSES Panther fans! I know I'll be following along on the Gametracker, since it won't be a 2-4 AM match for once. ;D

I was at the game last night, a friend and I made the trip to Madison for the soccer match. The cool thing is that we were part of a caravan, we saw many UWM fans at the game who we drove close to on the way up. All in all, it was very cold, the stands were very far from the field(Separated by a track and a hill) and the fans were all quiet for the most part. We had about 25-40% of the fans in the stadium, and the Milwaukee fans were loud and raucous when we scored. The game was dirty, Dale Weiler got taken out and was brought back on a cart with ice on his ankle, and Zeke Dombrowski nearly kicked the sh*t out of a Wisconsin guy. My friend and I sat in a predominantly UWM section, but we sat next to Wisconsin fans and we had a good conversation during the game. I got into a shouting match with a bunch of Spanish-speaking Badger fans in their native language, I'm surprised I remembered anything at all, let alone enough to argue about soccer. The last goal came with 5 minutes left in regulation. The first overtime period was scary, they had the ball on our half of the field the entire time. We had a chance to score at the end of the first OT, but failed. The second OT we dominated, but we couldn't score. We got a corner kick, and our guy sprinted to the corner because the clock had ten seconds, and he kicked it far past the goal, the Badgers cleared it and the game was over. I don't regret spending a thousand dollars on gas going to the game, I had a great time. I definitely won't be making the trip to Miami though

Wisconsin is very good this year. Their senior class is the group of guys I graduated with. I remember playing against some of those guys in U11.
I'm gonna watch the Wisconsin-Marquette game at Valley Fields in a few weeks. Go Badgers!

it should be a law that rivalry games arent allowed to end in a tie. it would've been sweet to get a sweep of the wisconsin schools. at least we didnt roll over and die in OT. lets hope the team that doesnt finish stays home for the rest of the season.

Agreed. I felt like I drove 80 miles to watch a game that never happened.
