Governor Walker's recommendations have been out for a couple months. I had an op-ed ready for the website that wouldn't have done us any favors. I hear there are other avenues but I don't know if I believe that.
The donations and seg fees will cover the cost of the building, but we need the up-front money from the budget that would be paid back over the course of the fee.
Walker is running for President and he's stomping on our program to do it. Whether or not he wins, I'd expect all three projects to be in the 2017 budget.
Screw him. The guy has sh*t on just about everything I care about, denied a casino and free $200 million for the Bucks arena to score cheap political points with Sheldon Adelson, and arbitrarily decided to hack $300 million out of the UW System budget to look good to the damn Kochs. Even the state GOP is looking sideways at Walker. The guy is a joke and now he's hitting us where it hurts so he can balance his budget even though the practice facility is a sure thing on a loan being paid back.
I'm sorry. I usually save the political stuff for Facebook because I like seeing my conservative and liberal friends tear at each other, but this prick is making it personal for me.

I will agree with Jimmy but in a bit more restrained fashion although my sentiments follow his implicitly....you know trickle- down economics is the biggest fallacy perpetrated on this country in the last half century but what the heck...the current administration led by blind ambition and ideology, so many things are not vetted, knee jerk to impress national ideologues like the Koch Brothers versus what is best for the common good, divide and conquer and all that...we reap what we sow...bet many who have best interests of UWM and State of WI at heart including our state park systems, wonderful natural environment now see we are becoming more like Missisippi every day...oh well, tons of things being pushed through in budget including this when you actually study the cure is worse than the problem...actually creates inefficiencies in blindly knee jerk consolidation and elimination of positions across the board to balance the budget to impress the national campaign audience...or course this is all done prayerfully and inspired by the Lord above (pardon the sarcasm but this is dangerous stuff and this is coming from a born again Christian (myself who resents right wing people invoking for their own rationale...like Mike Lovell saying the difference in taking the Marquette job was it was divinely supported...hey, I am sure he is a wonderful man and genuire but wonder if the divine interpreation would have been there or even sought if the money was not much higher but I digress.....no need to worry....when it comes down to tricke down economics UWM is not experiencing anything new...even under more liberal administrations it was always whatever scraps fell off the table from Madison...actually more like crumbs so sadly this is nothing new...promise never to go down this political rabbit hole again but just had to as this like Jimmy says really sucks. Sure we will subsidize Lasry and Edens thoug...

Outstanding results by the team and staff. On a related note, I had a conversation with Coach a month or two ago in which he was describing how some of our past players who never got their degrees were already back on campus or making plans to come back to finish their degrees. One of the great things about having staff continuity is that our coaches stay in touch with our past players, and they are constantly on them about finishing and offering to help. That's something we can all be extremely proud of in our program.

By the way, I'm really looking forward to the JS Sports section front page story about this achievement.
Assuming of course that there isn't breaking news about a Marquette jersey number or fourth assistant coach hiring that needs the space.

I can tell you that I've had a lot of pride seeing former players posting all their graduation pictures on Facebook, some played as far back as Bo and Bruce. It's pretty great to see our guys get what's theirs!
