Even better publicity for marquette, though. But I'm sure their 1-7-1 record isn't doing them any justice.
UWM isn't doing too hot either at 3-5. They gotta go play at Wisconsin and UIC still, too.

Yeah, its been a rough start to the season. But considering 4 of those 5 losses were by one goal (3 to ranked teams) it's not as bad as the record suggests. Now if they keep losing by one goal to every good team they play, then it might be time to get concerned.

The loss to Tulsa was an embarrassment. The losses to the 3 ranked teams, while understandable, are extremely annoying. UWM has been plagued by losing to ranked teams the last few seasons. It only is acceptable to lose to ranked teams for so long. Especially giving how talented this team is.
The loss to Detroit bugs me as well. It proves that UWM is no longer the dominant team in the HL. Actually until something proves me otherwise I think UIC is.
UWM's roster is deteriorating as well. 3 of Louis Bennett's 2005 recruits have quit. 3 of Louis Bennett's Marquette recruits for this season were supposed to go to UWM, and instead are playing for the Gold (2 of those players as freshman were giving us trouble). Basically, Coleman DESPERATELY needs a very strong recruiting class.
Nevertheless, I'm a huge UWM soccer fan, and even if they go into a losing season I won't waver. The program will need a strong fan support the next few years.

I am curious how much more Marquette is paying him Hopefully we didnt lose a great coach over a few thousand dollars. Seeing as how the season is going so far this year, Ill bet Bud is kicking himself for letting Louis get away.

I am curious how much more Marquette is paying him It states right in the article: The JS also published reports stating the same thing, going from $64,000 at Milwaukee to $90,000+ at Marquette. I want a 30% raise to do the same job I'm doing now...

It goes much deeper than salary though. As an MU employee, his kids can go to basically any Jesuit college in the country - for free. At UWM, there is no such perk, not even if his kids wanted to go to UWM itself.

Yes, I'm well aware that there was more to it than just the huge pay raise. I was commenting solely on the salary aspect of it.

Marquette is 1-10-1 right now. If Bennett doesn't produce a winning team in the next few seasons he's gonna get canned. $90,000 per year is a lot for a soccer coach, especially for one who coaches a program that's not popular.
