Well, I rarely if ever agree with Mark Belling on anything but tuned in yesterday, I listen mostly because I get a kick out of his maniacal and predictably biased rants and talking over people but on local issues he is usually fairly well informed ...but I digress....his take on the sites was that the top two really should be either the 2nd and Michigan or Grand Avenue although his opinion is that it should be built somewhere near the lake down in Summerfest/Coachyards area...ok then Mark....but...the more you look at this either the Grand Avenue site which if they have purchased looks like it will be the one offers proximity to the Hilton, Hyatt and what we call the Convention Center. Could be catalyst for mall and downtown. Also, the 2nd and Michigan site attractive for same reasons and on the river. Bet they want either of these two over putting it up in the same old moribund area and roiling the city with tearing down historic buildings . Sorry Journal Sentinel.. ha ha...also makes sense as he wuld be allied with Grunau, (moving HG to Schiltz Park), Marcus and some of the Grand Avenue people like Wepco, etc...Lets hope...long may Panther Arena stand!! Agree with Fran on power and bias of MU...really makes me wonder how strong they really are if they would be irritated and worried about UWM but then again have to let MY BIAS show here...a lot of greedy arrogant whiny snobs...Sorry Marquette but you are....Steve

Don't think we have to worry about tearing down Panther Arena. I was just at the Bucks press conference (my company will be sharing the Stockhouse with them in January) and Lasry was asked about the new owners of the Grand Avenue Mall and he basically said they bought it without actually saying they bought it. "The people who bought it, got a pretty great deal". Sounds like a new arena announcement will be coming in the next 30-60 days. My $ would be on the Grand Ave. site. If, true you are sitting on pretty big news for everyone needs. Why do you think his quote means the Bucks bought it, just because he thinks the owners got a great deal? His tone and the smile on his face made it pretty ironclad to me. I could be wrong, but I am pretty confident this is the case. As Lasry kept speaking, his son and the Bucks brass in attendance seemed to wrap it up pretty quickly.

dylan, cut them some slack. It's Tuesday. On Tuesday, the entire sports department is covering the Packers.
Hold it -- okay, I've just been informed that that is actually true from Tuesday through the following Monday.
Of each week.
Carry on.

For the record, while I don't know how they would jam a new mega-arena into the Grand Avenue footprint, it's fine with me if they want to do so. The taxpayers will get soaked, but that was pretty much a certainty wherever they put it.

Yes indeed, and all year round to boot....then again they are not alone in the media on that...turn on local news and if some kid built a snowman with a Green and Gold motif this would be the top story on any of the local news stations complete with little cutesy smiley chuckles. mugging and chatter from our distinguished tv news journalists regardless of the station...shameless pandering but then again our whole state has lost its mind when it comes to the beloved Lambeau and its sacred frozen tundra....in Sunday paper front page of World News section is a large color picture of a Packer who lept into the stands and the significance of the photo was the the player got ketchup spilled on him from one of the fans food items that spilled..oh boy...there is some great journalism taking up most of the front page. The NFL is popular and not against it or the Packers at all and this is common around the league but man, this is almost bordering on religious fervor and a whole "nother " level up here...

True, but it still could have been someone (or an LLC) on their behalf.

True, but it still could have been someone (or an LLC) on their behalf. If they did want to put the arena there possibly, i feel like this would be how they would do it. You don't want to start a commotion for something that isn't a certainty yet. Honestly this could also be one of the redevelopment of downtown projects they have talked about helping with too. Which would also be a reason not to want people to know yet.

Called the Journal-Sentinel and they said they didn't know, but proudly revealed that they did win a Pulitzer Prize in 2008. It's been a solid 3 months since I laughed at anything that hard.

I really want to click on that Arena Talk link, but at the same time I don't want to be pissed off for the next hour.

Taking this with a grain of salt until it's official, but to quote the movie Inglorious Basterds: "Facts can be so misleading, but rumors, true or not, are often revealing."

April Fools?
I was down at the Arena yesterday and the place doesn't appear close to 64 years old. It's beautiful!
