Hang in there Paul. One day soon we'll be able to say again, "It's a great day to be a Panther!"

I know PEOPLE on this board, like Hack and Jimmy and 97 and FTA and 'Holic and Fran and McDade and JHart (sorry for omitting some of you). In my world, PEOPLE still matter. This is our damn program, not theirs! I guess that's in part why I'm not that worried. How many ADs survive bad hires & alienating top donors? Yes, Amanda will make bad hires but not all carry the same weight. Selecting the wrong coach in basketball will weigh more than a soccer coach much like Barry Alvarez hiring the wrong football & men's bball coaches holds significantly more weight than the women's bball & men's hockey coaches he's recently fired. Coaches, GMs, ADs & players come and go but we'll always be here. They can't break us because they won't be around long enough to do it.

Louisville, Syracuse, Penn State, and the almighty North Carolina all have had far more serious problems than UWM. I believe it is Braun's mission department wide to serve the community. I applaud the entire athletic department for it. It won't stop because Jeter is gone. Lena Taylor's comments were political and perhaps necessary to ensure that there is a place for minorities at UWM. If I am wrong and Braun did act in a racist manner she should be fired as well.

Louisville, SU, PSU and UNC literally have tens if not hundreds of millions of dollars at their disposal, fanbases measuring into the millions, and generations of being national powers. The situations are not remotely comparable. We have a program that has been struggling to gain traction and fans and positive coverage for forty years -- and now we have donors fleeing, long time loyal fans saying "that's enough" and reporters buzzing around who are NOT going to be writing happy stories.
I was in Chicago on business the last couple days. At lunches and dinners people were talking about college basketball, of course, given the tournament. Whenever I mentioned I was a Milwaukee fan -- and that's all I said -- people would immediately ask "Why in the world did they fire Rob Jeter?" They knew who we were. They knew who he was. They couldn't fathom it.

Really, they care that much about UWM in Chicago. Did you tell them he was fired because we want to dominate The Horizon! My reference to these other high profile programs was meant to show that the worst of situations move on. Are you saying Penn States football scandal is not worse than our current situation. You think they didn't lose recruits. You don't think they were not embarrassed by sending an assistant coach to jail. Give me a break! My name is Tim and I am a proud alumni!

I'm just going to assume that Fran didn't want to lie to his associates in Chicago, and that's why he didn't say Jeter was fired 'because we wanna dominate the Horizon!'

Firing a long time coach whose been active in the community and beat two Big 10 teams on the road is going to create waves. Even if you're like me and believe it was time, you still have feelings of regret. You'd think that Ms. Braun would've realized this, would've taken extra care and would've been prepared for the fallout. You have to wonder how someone like her got the job to begin with.

Funny you say that Bill. One of the meetings I was at in Chicago was a training session on crisis management. The first three rules: tell the truth; tell it all; tell it first.
How would you rate the way this has been handled so far by that standard?

I agree with Bill. A competent AD should have known this.
Did anyone watch that full press conference on TMJ4? She looked like a freakin' deer in headlights.
How the hell did we pass on Plinske for this piece of work? Was he even interviewed for the job?
Geez, why can we never seem to do anything right.
Can't wait for the next article to come out.

Does Madison need a PG?
I would not be surprised at all to see Jordy go to a high major.
He has certainly shown he can play at that level.

It would be so sad if any of the guys left. But I suppose as far as the administration is concerned you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet, and players are just collateral damage.

I can understand his frustration but he'd have to sit a year to play only one more. Hopefully he gives the new coach a chance.

I thought that when there is a coaching change, players are allowed to trasfer wherever they like and play right away. Am I mistaken?
