Kyle Duncan is in town this weekend with Ryan Childress, a 6-8, 230-pound forward from Cincinnati Moeller, whom we've also offered. It certainly appears that we've moved beyond Ryan Tillema.

This was sure fun for me in Minnesota, showing my friends that Douglas chose UWM over "the U".
Then they told me I wouldn't be laughing when my coach chooses their school over UWM when Monson gets fired next year.

Here is a quick rundown of Douglas from an EMU fan (via the Detroit board). I thought you guys might find it interesting...........
"My two cents on James Douglas
I saw him play more than ten times last year. He is very fast with a fair handle on the ball. he is not a great passer and not a great shooter, but he gets to the basket well. His defense is pretty bad and that was a big sticking point with Jim Boone, our coach. Like the article posted said, he needs a team that will run so he could flourish at UWM. I always liked him and thought he could be pretty good by the time he finishes school. he's smiling constantly on the court and in the gym from open to close playing ball."

Does anyone have information on if Douglas plans on attending UWM still? I found this quote on the Wishoops message board, but I'm not sure if there is any credibility to it: "UWM junior college recruit James Douglas of Detroit will no longer enroll at UWM with Bruce Pearl departed. His good friend and jc teamate Walt Waters who is a 6-10 260 pound center who is already on campus and will be a junior next year, and possibly the starting center, is planning on staying as of right now." www.wissports.net/topic.asp?$sid=&id=24488

That would be very disappointing if it is true.
Two scholarships to give?

Quotes from when Douglass verballed:
Good:
"Milwaukee is a winning program and they recruited me hard all summer. When I came for my visit, I loved the campus and I loved the team.
Bad:
"Coach (associate head coach Tony) Jones opened his heart to me and I know Coach (Bruce) Pearl is going to be there for me when I get there."
Joah, Walt, etc. work on this guy.

It appears as though Douglas won't be attending UWM, leaving the team with at least two scholarships for the fall. Areas of need would appear to include shooting guard and an eventual replacement for Joah.

No, Childress would replace Adrian in a conventional two-guard, two-forward, one-center lineup. Walter effectively replaces Boo -- the third guard -- and Boo (or a new recruit) replaces Ed at the 2.

I don't think Walt wants to stay here...he didn't meet with Coach Jeter and was overheard by someone saying he wants to follow Pearl...would be a dumb move because he'd have to sit to play again...he's been to a lot of schools in his "college" career.

Fairly or unfairly, Walter just doesn't have a lot of options right now. He may be feeling a little lonely now that the coaching staff and his AAU teammate Douglas have left the program, but it's pretty clear that if he left UWM he would lose at least another semester of eligibility. That just doesn't seem like a good trade given that he's been with these teammates for three months.

Since when did Douglas OFFICIALLY say that he was not coming here?

Nothing has been said officially; Walter said it for J.D. and a former staff member didn't dispute it. James is very close to Tony Jones and never was a part of last year's team like Walter was.
