According to rivals and ESPN, the Golden Eagles today received a commitment from Juan Anderson, a 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward from Castro Valley, Calif. over offers from Arizona State and California. He reportedly took official visits to ASU and MU.

With luck he has a written contract signed in blood by Buzz Williams, videotaped and witnessed by three Supreme Court Justices that they will not revoke his offer when they find someone they like better.

As for that video, it is both unintentionally hilarious and an unintentionally brilliant evocation of the nature of the MU program -- good, bad and downright weird.

Though I suppose if your goal is to get into the NBA, Marquette is a much more logical choice.

Don't know anything about the kid, but Cal is a very tough school academically. The average incoming student has a high school GPA exceeding 4.0; it's a very intensely competitive place to get into and to be a student at. Az State, on the other hand, is one of the easiest "flagship" schools in the country to get into. Marquette falls in between.
From the NBA standpoint where you go to school is nearly irrelevant these days. If you're good enough, the scouts know where you are. Buzz Williams has no more or less magic dust for creating NBA players than anyone else.

Yeah Cal is like Madison on steroids in virtually every way. Anyway, you can never underestimate the fact that basketball is king at Marquette, whereas football is ever-present at ASU and Cal.

Seems like it came down to MU and ASU, Juan really felt a connection to our staff and program during his visit. I think he's unranked on scout and ranked in the 60's by Rivals, not that rankings matter too much anyway.
He's excited to be a Golden Eagle and that's what matters to me.
as for the video - uwmfutbol I think if you check out their other videos you will see they reference Al quite often. I think they are fun videos if you ask me.

For those who don't know, Arizona State has an acceptance rate 13% higher than UWM, at 92% of those who apply. Of course, it's now the biggest campus in the country, so there you have it.

ASU is very well respected at the graduate level, but its undergraduate program has a rather poor reputation (probably because of its acceptance rate). My grandparents lived in Phoenix and said basically if you can sign your own name you're admitted. That said, I'm sure it's a blast to go there and your education is whatever you make it.
EDIT: after a few minutes of searching, ASU did pretty well in the US News and Princeton Review college rankings, for what it's worth.

Loved the comments at JSOnline....eight total...six really positive comments...one "he won't be able to handle a Wisconsin winter" comment, and one comment questioning whether he could play a 3 or 4 in D1 (i think).
