And Revolving Door will eventually close too, just like every bar that's tried to compete with BBC, Rascal's, Hooligan's, Von Trier, Paddy's, Cans, the Eastsider, and Landmark Lanes. We should push for a bar where Walgreen's used to be, and take over a tavern a little closer to campus.

The PantherU article mentions TWC is getting the NFL Network, but I can't find anything elsewhere to verify it. Everything seems to say they're as far apart as ever. Where is that info coming from?

Totally confused the Big Ten Channel with NFL Network, my mistake.

Although I do believe 1328 is the slot saved for when they do reach a deal, if ever;

That's the only problem with expecting a sports bar to have TWC. When the NFL starts playing the Thursday games that are only able to be seen on NFL Network, a sports bar has no choice but to go with someone who carries those games. After all, that's what a sports bar is for...
So until the NFL Network is available on TWC (which by the sounds of it, won't happen for a while) it's doubtful that any Panther games will be on there. By the way, how is it that Goolsby's has Time Warner Sports? Do they have TWC and another one? I feel like I've seen Thursday football there too...

This is why I've never been happy with the TWC deal. I understand it might have been the best financial deal we could get at the time, but it severely limits our exposure. Hell, last year many of the TWC games weren't even picked up by ESPN Fullcourt. So unless you have TWC (which is probably true of half the metro market), you're locked out of the games. And the fact that so few sports bars have TWC just adds insult to injury.
I don't even know who in the athletic department is responsible for broadcast packages right now, but whoever it is I hope they consider these issues and try to do something about them. Men's basketball is the only sport that can get broadcast coverage, so we need to leverage off of that to the maximum extent possible.

Cable deals aside, I see the Twisted Fork has already closed down and put up temporary rebranding images with their "Replay" logo everywhere. We went for one last brunch this past weekend and talked to a waitress about the impending changes. She was really excited about what's coming, and described a very cool sports bar environment. Let's hope the Panthers can claim it as a home base of sorts.

BBC's has both DirecTV (sp?) and TWC, depending on the set. So Goolsby's may be doing the same. TWC 32 may limit our exposure, but it also may have been the best deal available, even exposure-wise. How many games would FSN give us? The Bucks would win every conflict. Is WMLW available outside the Milwaukee area? Best of luck to Replay, but they can't half ass this. That area is absolutely littered with bars, most of which provide a great experience. I'd add deals for Panther fans, a la Goolsby's. Your stub from the soccer game gets you bogo drinks. But Goolsby's has great location. Being a new player on North means you've got to provide great prices, great food, and great atmosphere to stand out.

I received a call from a Roaring Fork (the company that owns Twisted Fork and Qdoba) employee regarding my blog.
To sum it up, it was really a "Thanks but no thanks" regarding my ideas, specifically those that would have them not put any UW or MU stuff up. She claims they have so many TV's that they don't have space to hang things on the wall. We'll see.
My reaction after the phone call was to immediately saturate Hooligan's and BBC with Panther apparel all over the walls. Instead, I'm calling a certain investor we all know very well (not a donor to the program) about buying or leasing the old Walgreen's space and making the absolute best sports bar in Milwaukee. Anyone know any restaurant managers without jobs or looking to make a move?
