The Panthers extended a scholarship to Zak Showalter (6'2" G, Germantown HS) this evening. Zak seems like a really great fit for our program with his father Steve's relationship with former college teammate at UW-Platteville, Rob Jeter. A brief excerpt from Mark Miller's article at www.wishoops.net... First and foremost, the 6-foot-2 Showalter is the type of player who could find a tremendous amount of success competing in the Horizon League for the Panthers. He is a clutch performer who often impacts a basketball game on both ends of the court with his hustle, determination, basketball I.Q. and stunning athleticism.

I think Zak would be a terrific fit at Milwaukee.

According to Rivals article (April 11, 2011): Arroyo Edwards - Edwards is hearing from Baylor, Texas, Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Steep hill.

Sam Mader is 6'10?
Who knew?
I swear the recruitnik sites and magazines must have consumer research showing that they get more readers every time they inflate a player's height another inch.
If you aren't automatically deducting at least 2" from the stated height of any high school prospect, well, you must also believe in fairies and elves.

At least Mark Miller has Sam listed at 6-foot-9. That's getting warmer. Perhaps Sam was deterred from committing here by the presence of J.J. and Kyle. Anyway, good luck to him. I expect that he'll quickly work his way into the rotation at NIU. www.niuhuskies.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/niu-m-baskbl-mtt.html

Ellenson and Showalter would be two wonderful additions to this program, and I hope they both come here. Mader? He's a stiff and good luck at Northern Illinois.

Showalter sparks Warhawks past Riverside www.jsonline.com/sports/preps/124834044.htmlI've seen Zak play a number of times and I really like his game. Shaquille Boga, Evan Richard, Zak Showalter, Kyle Kelm and J.J. Panoske would be a really nice foundation for the future.

From Bob Gibbons' newsletter:
Najeal McMillan, 6-5, SF, Wisconsin Playground Warriors
Though he doesn’t have the ideal height for a power forward or the skill set you envision in a small forward, Najeal McMillan is the type of guy who every coach dreams of. At TOC, the athletic combo forward was all over the place playing whatever role Wisconsin Playground Warriors head man Ritchie Davis needed of him. The lefty defended a number of positions, was a monster on the glass, and scored from either forward position all weekend long. You aren’t going to catch him going to UNC or Duke, but Najeal is exactly the type of player who every mid-major coach needs on their roster if they hope to win games.

Per Mark Miller, McMillan has been offered by Nebraska-Omaha (Mitchell Farr) and Wofford. Additionally, Showalter has been offered by Green Bay, Drake, and Miami (OH).

Also per Mark Miller, Milwaukee has offered Austin Arians, a 6'5" wing from Madison Edgewood.

One thing to add:
The J-S last week reported that Farr previously "signed with Division 2 Nebraska-Omaha." I believe that UNO next season will begin play in the Summit League, so there will be a new Division 1-playing UNO.

Just a quick google search and his stats from high school are 15.3 PPG, 2.4 APG, 6.0 RPG, 1.6 SPG. He plays AAU for the Wisconsin Swing, which is the same AAU program that Kelm and Richard came out of. It also means he plays AAU with current offer Zak Showalter from Germantown, as well as potential 2013 recruits in Nick Fuller from Sun Prairie and Luke Fischer from Germantown. The Swing is playing in an event in Mequon today and tomorrow according to their website, more info can be found www.ny2lasports.com/event_one.aspx?eventid=6
