Can't we just get a new mid-major juggernaut conference going?

I get HDNet and will be watching this one if you want to stop over. I have to drop someone off at the airport after work, but the DVR will be set up. Call me. You have my numbers.

Looks like Stevens is staying at Butler. Clicking on the same link from above brings you to the updated article. It mentioned that he turned down 8 years, $21 million.
Must be nice to not even interview for a position and be offered that kind of money. I must have missed my calling in life...

...i don't get your point? that was like a paragraph...he mentioned the HL one time less than he mentioned Butler
and it's pretty obvious they're trying to get to the A-10 regardless

The whole thing doesn't mention the Horizon, not just Stevens' statement. You'd think they'd put "X Horizon League Titles" in there if they mentioned the CBI.

I'd like to think that Butler's established rivalry with Milwaukee at least equals its established rivalry with Wright State.

from the Indy Star article: Rivalries: Xavier, Dayton and St. Louis are within reasonable driving distances and would have significant potential as rivals. But it would be difficult to leave behind established rivalries with Valparaiso, Detroit and Wright State. Butler already has a rivalry with Xavier that is on par with any current HL rivalry and will get bigger than any current HL rivalry, especially after the December 2009 and December 2010 games. From a purely Men's basketball perspective, this is a no-brainer for Butler. Other sports will suffer at the beginning due to travel and possibility better competition. But things can change over time and the increase in support and revenue for Men's basketball could overcome the added travel expense for other sports, plus the other sports could possibly recruit better and improve to get on the same level with the A-10 counterparts.

From the Indy Star analysis:
ยป Travel: In the Horizon, the farthest trip for the Bulldogs is to Green Bay, a distance of 382 miles, according to mapquest .com. They have two other trips of more than 300 miles.
In the A-10, 300 miles would feel like a leisure trip. Two schools, UMass and Rhode Island, are about 880 miles from Indianapolis. New York is 710, Richmond, Va., 653, Philadelphia 644 and Charlotte 625. The average trip in the Horizon is 248 miles. In the A-10, it will be more than 500, which would significantly increase expenses.
These are not insignificant numbers. Think not only in terms of team travel, but fan travel. Now consider the amount of time invested (it takes about four hours to drive 248 miles; eight hours to drive 500) and the ever-escalating cost of gas.

This team from a big city thing, is so overrated. A-10, TV deal sucks!! I have CBS College Sports and there is not many games on that network at all. The TV ratings are very low for games on ESPN. Example, Xavier-Temple, so don't give me this big city talk pulls in numbers.
