we need to figure something out for both our free-throws and our opponents free-throws.
-UWM: seems like most of the students are going with the "spirit fingers", which I think is old and overdone. I've seem other schools put up one finger or pray. doesn't matter really, but the "whoosh" needs to be emphasized. it sounds pretty damn cool if everyone does it simultaneously.
-OPPONENTS: vs. UW-GB here, seemed like some people were trying to get "the swan" going, but it failed miserably. I think they didn't miss a free-throw until "the swan" died out. personally, I think the high pitched "WOOP!" does wonders. we kind of had it going at the UW-GB at GB, and you can only imagine how stupid and obnoxious it would sound if the entire building was doing it.
just my thoughts.

At a couple of home games for ASU the front row behind the basket has those plastic ass cheeks on under their shorts and during free throws they whole front row would turn around and drop their shorts.
It was hillarious and I'm sure was a complete shock to the guy shooting, but I think it only took 2 games for the administration to put a screetching hault to the fun.
I am pretty sure you can get those plastic cheeks either at Spencers or a costume store.

i have read many times how we need to come up with original cheers and stuff to seem more unified at games. if we can come up with something creative here for free-throws, it could be another staple for us at games. we can probably put our heads together here and come up with something original...

Apparently my freedom of speech has been revoked from this board so i must repost my last post. The swan comes from an adult video that one of the higher ups in the sbgc owns. One of the extremely good looking actors in the film has an odd shaped body part, if you catch my drift. Hence the swan was born.

John Jay dropped off a book of English soccer chants at my house last night. Some of these are hilarious and with a little alteration they might work perfectly at UWM games. I'll take a look at them later this evening and see what I can come up with.
Later, UWMfreak

Ok here are my ideas for anti-free-throw shooting:
1. Everyone standing in the student section lean to the same side like in those old V8 commercials.
2. Everyone start screaming the same pitch, gradually go up or down so it sounds like ass. (this works)
3. Be silent until right after the player bends his knees, then shriek like little girls. (this REALLY works, even when only a few people do it)
4. Very short bursts of screams at random intervals.
5. Form a kick-line.
These are functional designs based on getting inside the shooters mechanics and throwing them off. They might not look pretty, but they have been tried and tested. Well, except for the leaning. And the kick-line.
Go Panthers! Go Band!
