My initial reaction? This is big trouble for Wright St., coming as it does at the end of August. After all, the season is now only 50 or so days away.
Larry Greer leaves Biancardi
Top Wright St. assistant coach Larry Greer has decided to leave the program and join the Houston Rockets as an advance scout.
Green will continue to live in Dayton year-round, traveling to NBA games on a two-week-on, two-week-off basis. He will have his summers free.
"This is a dream job," Greer said from his desk in the Wright St. basketball offices. "What's the line from the movie, 'You had me at hello!' "
Greer said there was no way he was leaving the university because of the alleged recruiting violations that have shrouded Raiders coach Biancardi for the last two off-seasons.
"Now, why would I do that?" Greer asked.

His comment drips with sarcasm.
I agree that this is bad news for WSU. Biancardi is going to end up being the fall guy for all the problems at OSU. Just ask Bruce Pearl what happens when an assistant takes the fall.

According to today's Dayton Daily News, Paul Biancardi would appear to be in big, big trouble. What once appeared to have the potential for a breakout season appears to be unraveling before it begins. Effectively, a 225-page document submitted by Ohio St. to the NCAA indicts Biancardi as a major player in the school's various rules infractions, which included improper payments and shelter provided to a former player. A Wright St. spokesman stands behind Biancardi for now, but adds ominously: "We'll comply with whatever the NCAA decides.

The Dayton Daily has not provided the most unbiased reporting of the whole incident. While I do think that Biancardi probably was not lilly-white at OSU, I don't believe for one minute most of the allegations that the cleaning lady is alleging. I guess the ultimate question is how well will the NCAA investigate the whole mess. If they truly investigate thoroughly, they will see there are more holes in this lady's story than a Dunkin Donuts store.
Some people around WSU have been talking that the Larry Greer move was another sign that the "rats were leaving the ship". But if you look at the opportunity for Greer, he is leaving a mid-level college program for a chance to work with his brother (an assistant for the Rockets) in the NBA.

I certainly hope that Biancardi stays and the WSU program continues in the right direction. I find the Raiders a very worthy opponent (I think, in fact, they still may wind up posing the great test to UWM in the coming year; If what I hear is correct, Cotton and Coville may both miss the coming season at UDM). I especially enjoy Paul's sideline antics. Very entertaining.

If what I hear is correct, Cotton and Coville may both miss the coming season at UDM). Would cotton miss b/c of something w/ his hand or is this from something new? if he's gone too then one can kill any chance Detroit has for success this year.
