Kevin Henderson, a 6-foot-3 guard from San Bernardino Valley College, has signed a national letter of intent to play for UTEP. Henderson led the Wolverines to a 27-5 record last season, including the Foothills Conference title (13-1 mark) and a berth in the championship game of the state playoffs as he scored 33 points in the state semifinals. He averaged 18.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.2 steals per game and was named Foothill Conference and Southern California Player of the Year. He shot 50% from the field, 39% from three-point range and 80% from the line.
Henderson averaged 14.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game as a freshman at Garden City (KS) CC. However, Henderson was dismissed from the team after a run-in with Garden City coaches at the Juco Challenge in Indianapolis. Henderson helped lead Minneapolis (MN) North to the Minnesota Class AAAA title. Henderson was expected to land at Wisconsin Green Bay, but failed to qualify, forcing him to go the JC route.
