To Our Students,
Throughout its long history, tens of thousands of students just like you have passed through the doors of UWM.
Like many of you, they lived and died with its athletic fortunes. They yelled for their Cardinals, then they screamed for their Panthers. They shook the rafters of Baker Field House, the Milwaukee Arena and then the Klotsche.
We were thrilled when our Panthers were even considered for the NIT. But times have changed. Now like you we dream of bigger things.
Thanks to many of us, you have a chance thousands and thousands of us never had as students even once let alone twice, YOU have a chance to cheer your team into the Big Dance.
Now it is your turn to enter the anals of Klotsche Krazies legends.
To do this you must let out the beast within you.
You must be relentless.
You must be merciless.
You must face the enemy and get under his skin. You must annoy him and harrass him until he responds. And when he responds you will know that he is thinking about you and not about the game.
You must roar with approval when we score, steal the ball, or get a rebound. You must cheer the chants like you never have before. Above all else, no matter what the score you must not stop. You must not let up.
You must drive a vocal stake into the Butler beast, pounce on it and devour it with your voices, your hands and your feet.
Make their knees shake when they are on the line. Make them sweat as they come down the court. Understand that the longer you keep it up, the more weary they will become.
If at the end, your feet do not hurt from stomping on the benches, or your hands are not raw from clapping or if you still can talk then you have not done your best.
The Alumni will there be watching you, cheering with you and egging you on but the night belongs to you. The spotlight is on you. It is your time to show the world (and potential recruits) what UWM fans are like.
And when the final horn sounds let it be said, that our students, not just those on the court but those in the stands too, made the difference.
Make us proud!
