As of today our magic numbers (any combination of wins for us and losses for them) for clinching the Horizon League title are:
Butler - 5 Wright State - 4 Loyola - 3 Green Bay - 3 Detroit - 3 Cleveland - 3 Youngstown - 3 Chicago - 2

Good stuff. Thanks for putting it together. Let's put Loyola out of its misery on Monday night.

We will have no problem winning the league...We would need to lose quite a few games NOT to win the league...I thought Butler had 4 losses but the paper said only 3...We are still in real real good shape...I dont see us losing 3 more games in conference ..That would mean we finished 4-3

Milwaukee's magic number to clinch the title outright is currently 6 entering Monday. Once Milwaukee's magic number gets to 1 means it has clinched a share of the conference title.
The magic number for a team in first place in a division is the number of games that team must win or the second place team must lose in order to clinch the division. The formula is:
(total number of conference games) - (number of wins by first-place team) - (number of losses by second-place team) + 1 = magic number
Thus ...
16 conference games - 8 Milwaukee wins - 3 Butler losses + 1 = 6

After reading your post I realize that my calculations are off. If we went 4-3 and Butler won out they would beat us out by 1 game. I've changed the numbers. Remind me not to listen to friends who are hung over when trying to figure out projected standings. They thought we only have six games left, we have seven.

You would be right assuming we beat Loyola tomorrow night

Well we were using the Yahoo Team pages and they didn't show the two last conference games and they are Badger fans from Madison. LOL
Realistically the only team that really could catch us is Butler. (unless we lose to Youngstown, Detroit and UIC at home, which ain't gonna happen)
