i was just wondering who everyone thinks our new starting 5 will be next year? obviously we will keep 4 the same but who fills Eds shoes? chris at point Bo will fill Ed's shoes but who fills Bo's than of course AT and joah down low.
does anyboy see maybe putting mark in the starting rotation? or maybe McCoy?
personally i like McCoy he is very fast and a good defender on the perimeter, he is also good for like 5 boards a game when he gets like 20 mins.. it will be interesting to see what jeter does..

like last year, im sure we wont know who will the be starting five untill practice has been complete.
as much as i like mark pancratz i do not believe that he will be starting. he fills in as a great 6th man. his shot is no where near starting position so i dont think he would make a great canidate. other wise, my vote would go toward walt waters.
C - Waters F - Tucker F/G - Tigert G - Boo PG - Hill
6th - McCoy, Ford, Pancratz

the only reason that i would say not waters is because he is huge and i real;ly like the style of play when we have a quicker team, but i know that you are probably right on the starting five with waters unless he turns out to be like ford or doesnt make teh cut with grades

i have a feeling towards waters bc of the Milwaukee Journal article citing that waters is making a big splash in practice. (nice pun eh) Additionally, ive had conversations with parts of the team and they said he is a great challenge to practice against. somethingh i just forgot about though. he wont be ready to play till december. so i guess he wont be in our intial starting 5. depending on how the team is doing and weather there is a need for change. i doubt he will rotate into the starting five due to the nature of the teams cohesion and expeience of playing together. but he will have a great impact. i dont think he will have hands like ford. he has soft hands. he uses loation.

The starting five assuming tucker actually comes back, which he should do if he is smart, will be:
PG-Hill SG-Davis SF-Tucker PF-Tigert C-Waters later in the year but probabley alot of McCoy and Pancratz early in the year running a smaller group but move every one up a spot like not havinng a center so 3 guards...all in all with all the senoirs we have we will be alright

i would say it all depends on our opponent. if we feel that a break neck pace will beat a team then waters would not start. but if we want a slower tempo, say against UW where we couldnt score therefore no press; waters would be good to have in the post. but all this is just speculation, lets see how he, and others, do this offseason before we name our starters.

Don't rule out Ford for early in the season. If he heals OK you can never tell how his talents may blend with a new system.

derrek ford did have an impressive fade away jumper during the bama game. i think it was bama. however, it was one of those times were he was taking the shot and all i said was " NO DEREK" and then he made it.
derek has some kinks to work out of his game in the off season. my speculation would predict that he can only work out those kinks during game experience. the kinks i speak of is the stone hands he exhibits in games. they are more or less concrete but he has ball handling problems. some loation would soften them up. other than that, maybe some close work with AT might get him up there. but its all up to his practicing. i would love to see him take over the center postiion, this would allow AT and Joah to float out to the perimeter to stretch the dfence.
Wimmer - ive seen him take practice shots from half court and from the bench. not the type of practicing i wanna see out of player who expect mins. additionally, he seems very unsure of himself when he has the ball. Mark would get wimmers mins anyways.
The more interesting discussion we could be pursuing is the evolution of Al Hanson. Al reminds me of chris hill when chris was younger. Hill made me very nervous witht the ball and Al has made me even more nervous. The bc game would be a perfect example. Al tried dribbeling through two experiences defenders in the paint and he gave a turn over instead of an assist in a very imporatnt game. Hopefully jeter can help hiim find his stroke. Plus he has an awkward looking shot. just a thought.

he'd have to be pretty serious to put Joah or AT on the bench, but they could use three big guys and two guards. I agree that watching AH develop should be a blast, and sometimes he's a little sketchy, but I think he's further along than Chris was at the same point and that he'll be fine next year and in the future. I think he'll basically run the HL the same way he ran the Greater Metro Conference.
