Hunter decides to remain at IUPUI Jaguars coach says he rebuffs offer from Wisconsin-Milwaukee, which lost Pearl. IUPUI basketball coach Ron Hunter decided Saturday night he would not continue to pursue Wisconsin-Milwaukee's offer to replace Bruce Pearl as coach. Pearl, who led Wisconsin-Milwaukee to the Sweet Sixteen this year, recently took the job at Tennessee. "Yeah, I think I'm going to stay," said Hunter, who spoke by phone from outside the Edward Jones Dome shortly after the first national semifinal between Illinois and Louisville. "Right now, I still feel like I've got the best situation. I'm young enough that these opportunities will come." www.indystar.com/articles/9/234110-6439-036.html

That is very big news in our coach hunt. I would imagine if people are starting to back out we'll hear who our new HC is within the next 2-3 days. I assume Tuesday.
Later, UWMfreak

TMJ4 reported on its 10 PM sportscast Thursday night, 3/31, that Hunter was no longer being considered. It makes me wonder if Hunter withdrew on his own or if he was given the option to withdraw (vs. simply losing out to someone else).

It pretty much saves face for both parties if you think about it.
