First of all, as a first time poster, I want to start by saying I have enjoyed browsing these threads ever since my work buddy steared me here several months ago. It's a fun late night departure from family life (yes I'm over 30...ok, over 40). Anyway, I continue to be impressed by the growth of the program under BP's leadership. And needless to say, me and the kids are highly entertained by the student section, which brings me to the reason I popped on the board. You guys are always looking for ways for the students to work together to impact the game...like the 5 second count on in-bound plays. Well, I have a suggestion for another chant. When UWM is on defense and the 35 second shot clock gets down to 10 seconds, the students start counting down 5,4,3,2,1,0. More often than not, the offensive team will end up throwing up a shot with 5 seconds left on the shot clock! At the very least it has an unsettling effect on the offense. Even forcing them into only three or four bad shots can make the difference in a close game!! Give it a shot. Keep up the good work in the student section and let's bring home the tourney title.

Welcome Pantherhead.
Good idea. Being in the student section at all the games, that is something that we have tried. I think it would be a better idea though to start around 8 seconds and speed up, so if the opposing player hears us start chanting, and looks up, he would see that we were accurate, until we speed up of course. We will have to start doing this every time the clock gets down, and hopefully the rest of the section joins in. The five second chant has always been one of my favorites, and at times it seems to actually fire up our guys to press a little harder.

i agree, i love the five second chant, i try to start it on almost every inbound of the opposing team! I would love to start doing taht chant for the shot clock as well, i have tried it but is unsuccessful, it is hard to get going! It does work effectively. I think hat MSU likes to do it, and i have seen it work on tv, i say lets try it in the tourney!
