RonDiaz, we are discussing it and we are of the opinion that it is a tiresome discussion... ...we still are discussing it and we still respect your thoughts and opinions.
And the thing is, we don't 'have to read it,' if the content of these boards is reduced to calling each other names and discussing who's chants offended who, I'm guessing the board will lose it's popularity.
Right now this board seems to be the best in the Horizon League and certainly is an awesome and insightful place to discuss Panther Basketball, however if the discussions get too far of course people will stop reading them and participation will eventually drop off.
This is just my opinion of course, there is still waaaaay more great content on these boards to ever deter a Panther fan from enjoying the reads... ...but they certainly don't 'have to read it.'

i hate having to defend my thoughts and opinions to people. especially when these people are supposed to be on my side. i dont like my opinions and what i say on this board beind deemed less valuable because i am still a student and i get drunk and go to games. now no one has said anything like that yet, i just feel i am looked down upon. i know others feel the same way. so hey guys this is me, a loyal panther fan for 5 years, a guy who tries to lead the student section here by example. not to toot my own horn (i hope others can back me up) but im one of the best student fans we got. yet i feel i have to constantly defend myself on this board to my peers.
sometimes i feel there are people on this board who feel that they own it and everyone else is wrong. i started this thread to open discussion. i just dont get how our own alum will yell at our student section for things we do wrong, but when i say about things others do wrong its all "does throwing a foam ball really bother you that much" " i would do the deon tomas thing, its clever".
and about the coach K thing...i would never do that. it means nothing to me. i dont yell at coaches, i consider it uneffective. look at that discussion, its all alums with that brilliant idea.
lets turn things around. if i would have thrown a foam ball at the loyola fans last night, all of our fans would have called for my head (i would have yelled at any of our fans who would have done it). those of you who werent at the game and just heard someone mention it on this board would be taking sh*t about me, but when someone else does it i shouldnt even mention it? odd
i think if you think this discussion is redundant dont respond. if you dont agree, say it, but dont expect that im not gonna read it and react.
really i think i may just leave the board alone for a while. you may think discussion like this reduces the traffic, but i think what has been going on is close to turning me off, losing the board a long time member. this is probably just talk and i'll probably be back tomorrow, but just so you know. if someone sounds mad on the board , drop that down like 5 knotches. i was never mad to start, i was just duscussing stuff. now i get mad when our own fans defend opposition instead of sticking with one of their own students.
maybe we need a student discussion board to us drunk college kids can talk amongst ourselves and stay out of the 'grown up' conversation

Sounds like someone has had a long week and need a beer (or three or four). haha Just messing with you Bruceismyhomeboy.......... ;D You are right, we are all on the same team. The bottom line is that this is a discussion board. You are entitled (and encouraged) to have your own opinions and to post them, just as everyone else is............but that does not mean we are all going to agree all of the time............and that is ok. Some of the "older" folks may not always agree with what the students do, and I am sure that the students don't always agree with what the "older" folks do/think/say.........but at the end of the day we are all UWM fans, that is something we can agree on. Let's just all have a beer and chill..........afterall, it is Friday afternoon! In other words, I hear ya, but there is no way that everyone on this board is going to agree all of the time. But that doesn't mean we can't "discuss" things.

i think its time the fans who are not attending games in the student to stop making comments about the student section. Its really pointless for someone who has children to tell us what is acceptable and what is appropriate. You older guys might not know this but when you speak, you do turn people away from the board and turns away fans from crossing over into the hard core fans. which just leaves them as the "bandwagon" fans.
the people who do the most work to get fans to the games are the same ones put down. from now on, i encourage students to not worry about what the alumnis on this board have to say when they put them down. in fact, we will be taking a active stance to retake our student section and fallow a set of guidelines which do not fallow any standards put forth by alumnis and more importantly people who do not attend every game possiblie like bruceismyhomeboy and i.

Dunzz and Bruce, and any other students:
Seems like I offended you with what I said, and to that extent, I apologize. Like I said, I think the student support of the team this year has been outstanding. My post was simply to bring things back to what is most important here, our beloved Panther basketball team. I have no problem (for the most part) with the cheers you guys all lead and agree with everyone that it creates a great atmosphere and a hostile environment for opponents. These are essential to successful college basketball.
My point was simply that what another school's student section, or fan base, chooses to or not to cheer shouldn't become the primary focus on here - and to some extent I think it has. Everyone obviously has their own opinons and are free to voice them. But, when a thread about the great game last night turns into a finger pointing contest between students on whose cheering section was better, I feel that the focus of this board is lost.
Again, if I offended, I apologize.
GO PANTHERS.

Being a student at UWM, I think that any and all things that the alumni have to say, be it suggestions or complaints, is vital and important to our progression as a student section. Thinking otherwise is just being ignorant of the past accomplishments that the alumni, who were once also students, have done. I welcome any opinions that they might have. IMO, the students and alumni should work together even more than they are now.
Also, I think that we are forgetting that, there is no best or number one fans. You have to look at the bigger picture, which is UWM Panther sports, basketball being one of them. We, the students, are just one peice of that picture, as are the alumni, as are the players etc...we all have to work together to keep this program on the rise. But, that is just my honest opinion.
Either way, we should drop this, and talk basketball.

People shouldn't be apologizing on here! I haven't taken offense to anything. This is a discussion board, everyone is entitled to an opinion.
Here's mine: This discussion thread should have been titled "Out of Line Things Loyola Fans Did" or "Did you see that?! Silly Loyola Fans!" or something of an equally ridiculous sounding name, so that it encourages posters to poke fun at Loyola student sections. We did have a great game last night and I think it's fine if we talk about both. Maybe for the next game we can make some kind of organization for posting so that people don't get confused by the context of postings. It's hard to know the tone of someone's post when you can only read their words.
We are all huge fans and we all have VERY loud voices!

Since when has this board become so gay? Bruceismyhomeboy, I like reading your stuff, and I am also a drunk college student, but who cares if people disagree with your opinion. It sounded like you were crying or pouting when you wrote that statement. Let's get back to basketball, stop talking about cheering, or stuff about the other fans throwing rubber balls at us. Also, I don't think the alumni on this board are any different from the students. If they are fans, great. I don't see though how "WE CAN LEARN FROM THE ALUMNI." THat doesnt make any sense, are they going to have really great cheers we can use or something. I love this board but some of the talk just sounds lame. Lets get back to basketball.

I don't mean to single anyone out, sorry if I did. I just want to get back to the team, not the fans or alum or cheers.

I guess since we are all puttin our beef on the board here, I might as well get mine out too ;D
Everytime UWM wins a game, it isn't a "great win" there is reason that in games such as last nights vs. YSU, ther there is a 25 pt spread in Vegas.... And if THEY, NOT US, BECAUSE WE ARE NOT ON THE TEAM, beat Butler? That will be a good win, for the conference. So until then, lets save the "great wins" for teams that deserve that title, UWM hasn't beaten a team with an RPI that is sub 100...
peace..
Go Panthers!

Great win in the sense that with the UWGB loss and our YSU win, UWM has separated itself from the rest of the pack. One more win and the homecourt advantage is ours in the Horizon League Tourny. Youngstown State in that perspective is a great win. No one was claiming that YSU would be a great win on our bracketology resume.
Peace, UWMfreak

Broaden your perspective on things....... You guys say it after every game!!!! It gets old!!! Like seriously, every win isn't a great win. Kansas, Wisconsin, THOSE would have been great wins. The tournament? Great wins. YSU, Loyola, CSU??? Not great wins. I understand clinching conference, yea, it's awesome, but in all seriousness, don't you guys think the Horizon is a bit down this year? UWM SHOULD win conference. If anyone else did, this season would have been a disappointment, I am not afraid to say it!
