As I was looking around at the different polls, I noticed that we are listed on the A.P. having 6 votes...which would put our ranking @ 42.....(taking the votes literally)
So I guess, what is everyone's feeling on us getting an at large bid if we win out and lose in the championsip game...(I know I am thinking far ahead..but...just a topic of discussion) I thought after our loss to GB we didn't have a chance at an at large bid, but I guess not.....??

Alot of people thought that exact same way. I knew we had some area for mistake. If we win out especially a big road win at Hawaii and lose in the championship game we will end up 24-6 (14-2) I feel that is good enough to get an at large. We will have the exposure and our RPI will continue to climb up. Our losses were against decent teams. No team really hurt hurt us like last year against YSU.. UW is a tough loss as is Kansas...Both on the road along with Valpo on the road who is playing well and UDM at home but they are still decent enough. GB on the road is looking like a "better" loss if there is such a thing. But anyway, point being I think we get in if we win out and lose in the championship. If we get in this year, or shoudl I say when we get in, I will make a bold statement already that we will upset whoever we play in the first round and play a huge second round game but fall just short.....GO PANTHERS

I hope I'm wrong, but let's face it, Nicky Hansome is never wrong.
There is no chance of an at-large bid anymore. We've discussed this in other threads so let's not even think about it. 24 wins is very impressive, but who have we beat? The league is just too dismal this year.
Let's end this talk. please.

Agreed, Nick. We have NO SHOT at an at-large. RPI's too low. SOS is WAY too low.
The HL tourney is the only way we get in. And, if we can run the table from here on out, the only way we get a winnable NCAA game. There's no way we beat Oklahoma, Oklahoma State or Gonzaga (the predicted opponents right now). But, if we win out, there's at least an outside shot at an 11 seed.

I think we would've needed a more impressive showing against Wisconsin to get the at-large, or at least swept UWGB. As it is now, I don't think our non-conference schedule was strong enough. Wins against Air Force and @ Manhattan would have been huge if those teams hadn't been such utter dissapointments this year. If Utah State could finish ranked in the AP poll and not get in because of a weak non-conference schedule last year, UWM doesn't have much of a shot at an at-large this year.

I put our chances at an at-large bid at about 5%. It's not impossible, but it's so unlikely, I would be SHOCKED to see it happen.
Three things working against us: 1. Home loss to Detroit was a KILLER. Losing to Detroit would not be as bad, but at home, it's a bad loss. 2. The loss to Kansas was not AT KANSAS. It's a neutral court loss, and is more damaging to our RPI as a result. 3. Our SOS sucks, because our conference is weak, and our non-conference foes simply did not live up to our expectations.
Our only chance at an at-large is for some very unlikely scenarios to play out in SEVERAL other conferences.

Our only chance at an at-large is for some very unlikely scenarios to play out in SEVERAL other conferences. Pretty much meaning that every top seed in mid-major conferences win their conference tournaments and that no bubble teams from major conferences solidify their positions in conference tournaments. Unlikely to happen.

Personally, I just wish folks would stop taking for granted that we "win out" the rest of the schedule. The remainder of the schedule may be week, but their not played on paper, they're played on the court. Just take it one game at a time folks and don't get overly excited until it's time....
Just my opinion...
