Now that I'm done feeling bad about that loss last night I can focus on the next game. We need to pack the Cell for this one. It's become an absolutely huge game for the Panthers. Not in the sense that if we win we'll get an at-large seeing that went out the window in Yougnstown... it's huge in the sense that the team needs a big win to get their confidence back! Watching them over the last 5 games or so it's almost as if they've forgotten what's got them this far. They're playing tentative and out of control. We need a large, loud, and supportive crowd Saturday. As an alum I'm doing everything I can to get people out. I hope the students are recruiting hard to get a big student turn-out. It shouldn't be a tough sell - Espn2, national tv, good team coming in, Saturday, FREE GAME!
I'm trying to get people to come pre-party at Goolsbys before the game.
We need a huge sea of black and gold there for this one. Get everyone you know to come down for this! We don't get too many chances to have national games at home so this one is big!
GO PANTHERS!!!

7,000 to 8,000 would be great but I really hope we can push it towards 10,000. Looking on Tickermaster a fair majority of the 200 level and almost all the 100 level seem to be sold. So that's a good start. I think people just need to keep spreading the word. It takes a long time to build a following but this game is a huge opportunity to take another step. If people who don't normally come see a lively atmosphere (what a good D1 atmosphere should look like) and see a quality win they may come back again. That and the country is watching this one so we need to have a full house to let future recruits, students, etc.. know that b-ball is alive and well at UWM. Bottom line is the team really needs some support right now to get back on track before the conference tourney starts.

One fan at a time. Our normal group of 3 is up to 11 for Saturday's game - even prying some away from the MU game. Hope the word is out at the dorms. We love watching the student section (when it's full) almost as much as the game. Go Panthers.

Mixed feelings for UWMTitle, inconsistency jumble emotions By DAN MANOYAN dmanoyan@journalsentinel.com Posted: Feb. 20, 2004 By all rights, this should be a time of unbridled joy for UW-Milwaukee's basketball team. On Wednesday night, the Panthers clinched at least a share of the Horizon League championship, the first Division I regular-season title for the program. Not since 1941, when UWM won the Wisconsin State Teachers College Conference with an 8-0 record, had there been any sort of league title to boast of. But the Panthers won their title by backing in, not charging forward and attacking, as has been their way of doing things most of the season. UWM lost its second straight Horizon League contest on Wednesday, 75-58, at Butler, and discovered it was league champion only when word of UW-Green Bay's loss to Illinois-Chicago was relayed to the players on the bus ride home from Indianapolis. DAN MANOYAN's pre-game coverage continues at: www.jsonline.com/sports/coll/feb04/209093.aspFrom the Feb. 21, 2004 editions of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel UWM Hosts Manhattan In Bracket Buster Contest Panthers, Jaspers play at 1 p.m. The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee heads back into non-league play by hosting Manhattan as a part of ESPN's Bracket Buster Saturday. The game tips off at 1 p.m. CST at the U.S. Cellular Arena and will be televised nationally on ESPN2. * Last Time Out Butler used a quick 9-0 run midway through the second half to regain control of the contest en route to a 75-58 win over UWM Wednesday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Panthers fell behind 8-0 early and trailed by nine at halftime before scoring 18 of the first 27 points of the second half to tie the game at 39. But, Butler scored the next nine points and then never let UWM get closer than five points the rest of the way. Dylan Page led the Panthers with 18 points. * Winning Despite Losing About 60 minutes after falling at Butler Wednesday night, the Panthers found out UIC had beaten UW-Green Bay, giving UWM at least a share of its first-ever Horizon League regular season title. UWM has just one league game remaining and can finish no worse than 12-4 in league play. Three teams are tied for second place behind UWM, with UIC, UW-Green Bay and Wright State all 10-4. You can get pretty much any tickets you want on ticketmaster right now. Other than that, I have no idea.
I expect a very high scoring game today. If our team is hitting our shots, we should be able to pull it off.
FIRE UP MILWAUKEE!
Later, UWMfreak UWM 89, Manhattan 86

ISomeone mentioned the ticket office expects 7000-8000 so far. It that is true that would be awesome!!!! Looks like someone at the ticket office was trying to blow smoke up your ass. 4,752 Can't say that I'm surprised by that, though. Actually that's better than I thought it would be.

One thing I was happy to see at the game. I took a break from the student section in the second half and went for a higher view. I saw a group of four people with the MU '74 shirts on sitting in the 300 level. I mean, they came to the UWM game.

You know I was happy with the turnout...the crowd got into at important parts of the game...too bad for the loss. We didn't deserve it the way we played in the game, would have loved to see the game in our hands. How does everyone feel about the tourney, what is going to happen?

I agree that the attendence was decent considering the circumstances. (early afternoon game, mu game next door). The fans that were there were fairly lively too. Did anyone see that Southern Illinois has their bracket buster game start at 11pm local time. I would've loved to have that time slot; there'd be tons of drunk kids in the student section lol. Also how did S. Illinois manage to get another home game for the bracket buster this year? I thought it was setup so you alternate with home and road game each year, guess not
