Dylan Page still wears an air cast that reaches almost to his kneecap, and he hasn't submitted to a full-contact practice since he severely sprained his left ankle a week ago in Chicago. Yet some people still think the odds-on Horizon League player of the year is sandbagging.
"He's not hurt," said Paul McMillan, Loyola's power forward, with the accent on power. "He had 26 points. That's hurt?
"He's playing the best of any player in the conference, and I don't think anybody is questioning that. I mean if the guy is hurt, he's sure not playing like it."

Page And McCants Lead Panthers Past Loyola
UWM moves to within one win of league title[/color]
Feb. 12, 2004
MILWAUKEE - Dylan Page scored 26 points and Ed McCants added 21 as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee claimed a 77-71 win over Loyola Thursday night at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
With the win, UWM (17-6, 12-1 Horizon) moves one win away from clinching at least a share of its first Horizon League regular season championship. The Panthers are now two-and-one-half games ahead of idle UW-Green Bay and three games ahead of Wright State with just three games to play.
Page, still playing with a heavily-wrapped left leg, knocked down 9-of-14 from the field, including four three-point baskets. He got plenty of help from McCants, who also had four assists and three steals in 32 minutes.

Loyola Throws Scare into UW-Milwaukee but Falls, 77-71
2/12/2004
Milwaukee (February 12, 2004) - Loyola University Chicago (7-16, 3-10 Horizon) gave Horizon League leader UW-Milwaukee (17-6, 12-1 Horizon) all it could handle, but the Panthers pulled out a 77-71 victory tonight at U.S. Cellular Arena. The Ramblers, who saw five players score in double digits, were victimized by 19 turnovers.
"Milwaukee did a good job of stemming the runs we made," Loyola head coach Larry Farmer said. "I thought we executed our game plan well and gave ourselves a chance to win, but we turned the ball over too many times."
The teams fought evenly in the opening period and the Panthers took a 36-35 edge into the break. In the second half, Loyola took a 52-51 lead on Terrance Whiters' three-pointer, but Milwaukee rattled off the next seven points to take a 58-52 lead it would never relinquish.

These Panthers a dream come true

For 64 years it was a dream, and now it's a formality. UW-Milwaukee will clinch a conference basketball championship in a few days, but it may be the wrong one.
The Panthers demonstrated for the 17th time Thursday night why they belong in the NCAA tournament, but hammering the Horizon League won't necessarily help them get there. They're clearly the class of the neighborhood, but the neighborhood has a hyphen.
Bruce Pearl paced a groove in front of his bench Tuesday night while his favorites took 30 minutes to wear out Loyola, and when it finally did, he said, "If that team is in the lower half of our league, how good is our league?"
