Let's do it at the Gasthaus this Sunday to watch the televised game on Fox Sports Net, 5:30pm I believe.
Nice write up by the NC State website...seems to put a lot of stats about our team up. Unfortunately though, 50% of the stats are gained from exhibition games which were both blowouts! We'll see what happens Sunday...should be huge!
Also...UIC loss vs Northern Illinois? How are they gonna fair against the Horizon League this year? I predict too much hype for a team with not enough unity...resulting in a team like Detroit coming out on top! Gotta ovecomer the U Dub first though!

I am going to say that UWM will play good and shock N.C. State with a 77-74 win.

1: Why can't we shoot free throws?
2: Can't NC State clean their floor before a game. Our players were falling and slipping all over the place.
3: Nice sucker punch from the NC State player as he "was clearly going for the ball"...according to the G Man.
4. I think we are cursed for televised games! Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Butler, SIU, etc

Free Throws, Free Throws, Free Throws !!!! Man, it is going to be tough to award the person who had the hardest time shooting free thows this weekend - Tucker tonight or D. Mase on Saturday night vs. Washington in the 3rd quarter. Any way, this is a game that slipped away. UWM could have one this game, but a missed front end here and missed bunnies down the stretch doomed the panthers. No use crying about it now!! On to Valpo. 2-2 on this road trip would be OK, but 3-1 sonds a hell of alot better to me so lets take down Valpo on Weds. and Madison on Saturday. One last thought: how in the hell can the refs look at a replay of "the play" and not kick out Hodge for throwing a punch!! I don't care that my 6 year old cousin swings harder than Hodge did, but a rule is a rule. It should have been 2 free throws and the ball out of bounds to us.

Free throws and layups boys....... missing either one will hurt you, but if you miss both it will kill you. Besides that, statistically, the game was a good one. UWM kicked their ace on the offensive glass and even in total rebounds. We played pretty well most of the first half and showed glimmers in the second half but were never really able to get them into "our" game. We were able to turn up the speed on several occassions but not for an extended period of time. Overall, it was a pretty good showing and we did get some props from the announcers. What was up with Hodge? I mean seriously, you could see it after the first replay (and the second, and the third.............and the tenth). Granted, it probably would not have changed the outcome of the game, and he did swing like my 2 year old daughter, but it was an intentional swing nonetheless. The officials were pretty good up until that point, where they COMPLETELY missed the boat. I am surprised that BP didn't just lose it there, afterall, it was right in front of UWM's bench. But I did love the way that Hill was the first one in there to "see what was up". Hate to put it this way, but Valpo is as close to a must win as you can have in early December....let go Panthers!

Watching the game last night, I noticed a couple of things. First off, you guys have a plethora of bigs in the front court. Secondly, in my opinion of course, if you guys lose the games you're going to, I think it'll be because of stretches during the game when that helter-skelter style Pearl employs, backfires on the Panthers. When you guys get to running up and down the court willy-nilly, that tends to get you out of your defensive mindset as well. It appeared that Milwaukee lost cohesiveness on the defensive end during a stretch when both NC State and Miwaukee ran up and down the court just jacking up shots and turning the ball over. Milwaukee had the wraps on the 3-point line and holding Julius Hodge down. Except for #34, you guys we're doing the job.

Disappointing loss last night. To be honest, we should've won that game. If not for Melvin's career night and missed FTs and layups ("Free throws and layups boys....... missing either one will hurt you, but if you miss both it will kill you" - well stated Pnthr30), we would've won by 7-10.
But, no time to look in the past. Valpo is a tough opponent, and Pnthr30 is right, this game is a must win. We NEED to go at least 2-2 on this road trip, heading into conference play.
Hopefully BP will have JT standing on the FT line a lot over the next couple days. One for five is ridiculous. Even Pnthr30's two year old daughter could do better. Well, maybe that's a stretch.

I wouldn't want to take Maty on at her home court (4 foot Fisher Price basket in the living room)...... ;D A neutral court may be a different story though haha By the way, she was pissed that "THE PANTHER" wasn't at the game and on TV last night! haha ;D

You are correct Chuck........the whole complection of this years team is different than last years. Last year we were very strong at the 1-3 and this year we are much stronger on the inside (comparatively). IMO UWM will go as far as the point position will allow them to. It is evident that UWM wants to speed teams up and make them play "out of their comfort zone".......however, UWM has a fairly inexperienced team and hasn't yet made this frantic style "their own comfort zone". In other words, the team is young and inexperienced, especially in big games, and may not be completely comfortable with when to force the issue and when to ratched it back a bit. Last years team understood that fairly well and when they were successful really was able to turn it on and off and get teams playing fast and then on the flip side were able to control their own pace. At this point at least, this years squad hasn't mastered this yet. However, with that being said, BP's style may not be the prettiest to watch for a basketball purist, but it is successful. They are going to force the issue, they will have turnovers, they will miss a lot of shot, many of them long ones, and most importantly, it is a learned process. Lets give these guys a chance to learn it, afterall, they have until the end of February to master it! haha ;D

Frankly, I think it was a good no-call.
The so-called "punch" could be interpreted as going for the ball. Furthermore, the UWM player precipitated it by whipping and flailing around his legs and hit the NC player in the head.
So, no harm, no foul.

Alright...
To the pressures of Kingsbury I changed the photo at the header of the discussion board. ;D
I'll call it "BP in butt kicking mode". This ought to bring us better luck than the free throw photo from last week.
LETS GO PANTHERS! We need this victory!
Later, UWMfreak
-As always, special thanks to John Jay who rarely gets enough credit for taking these brilliant photos at uwm sporting events. Thanks John! ;D
