After a few frustrating years of what might have been, Memphis Tiger fans can think about what will be with the recruiting class of 2005. Top prospect Shawne Williams, a 6-foot-8, 200 pound small forward, announced Friday that due to uncertainty about his NBA Draft status he will be going to the University of Memphis. Things have been falling into place for the U of M hoops program.
Shawne Williams did not file the necessary paper work with the NBA league office at 10:59 Central Time and plans to enroll at the University of Memphis The Commercial Appeal newspaper reported.
Jeremy Hunt's ACL Surgery A Success.
Tiger guard is expected to return in time for start of 2005-06 campaign.
University of Memphis junior Jeremy Hunt underwent surgery to repair an ACL tear and meniscus tear in his left knee Tuesday. Hunt suffered the injury in the Tigers' Mar. 23 NIT game against Vanderbilt. It is the same knee that was injured in February of the 2003-04 season.
Hunt will begin rehabilitation of the knee as soon as possible. The rehab process will take approximately six months, and Hunt is expected to return in time for the start of the 2005-06 campaign.
For the season, Hunt averaged 9.5 points and 3.5 rebounds. He had 70 assists and 39 steals.
Earlier this year, he missed eight games from Dec. 7 through Jan. 9 with a broken bone in his left wrist. He missed the Nov. 26 game against Maryland with a chest bruise.
In the 2003-04 season, Hunt suffered his first ACL injury in a Feb. 20 practice. He underwent surgery Mar. 3, and traveled with the team to the Conference USA and NCAA Tournaments.

A little contact with Joah might make him less effevtive. A physical game could slow him down since he is injury prone. Or it could motivate him to get up on the horse? Im not even sure if this guy will be ready considering surgey happened recently and it takes 6th months to recover. My brother had ACL surgey and he's just a normal dude who didnt play college sports and he was effected for about 8 months. ie he couldnt run as fast as he used to. but maybe with special trainers he might get better faster.
Potential Starter Suspended for fall semester after drug chargers come up.

BOSTON -- Boston College forward Sean Williams was suspended from the team and university after he was charged with marijuana possession.
The 6-foot-10 Williams, projected to be a starter next season, was arrested by campus police Friday. He pleaded not guilty in Brighton District Court and is scheduled to appear at a pretrial hearing July 8.
After the arrest, Williams was suspended indefinitely from the team. He was also suspended from the university for the summer and fall semesters, sports information director Chris Cameron said.
The suspension required Williams to immediately leave campus. Williams, who averaged 4.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots last year as a freshman, was on campus taking summer courses.
"We will not tolerate this type of behavior," coach Al Skinner said in a statement. "It is not indicative of the character of the young men in our basketball program."
Williams was the second BC freshman arrested in less than a week. Akida McLain was arrested in his hometown of Pittsburgh last Sunday after allegedly trying to pass counterfeit $20 bills. McLain said he didn't know how the fake bills came into his possession.
Skinner said there's a possibility that Williams could return to school and the team.
"We will continue to provide him the help and support he needs," Skinner said.
Cameron said the school hadn't decided if Williams will lose his scholarship.
If this all holds up i guess this will make DUkes chances easier.
