Great season, lots of fun to watch, disappointing finish. What’s ironic is the future is really bright with young hitters, and now kind of cloudy with pitching. Great season. Looking forward to next year, and hopefully Woodruff will be healthy. Pitching isn't as bleak as people might think. Gasser's been throwing hard heat in the minors. And how about Jacob Misiorowski? Hopefully the physical issue that ended his season early will turn out to be insignificant. Carlos Rodriquez is another one to watch. No one is giving up on Aaron Ashby yet either. The thing about prospects is that is all they are to this point. Time will tell how many and which ones emerge.

As for the playoffs, we will have the best pitching in baseball. If our offense can be just average, we can make a deep run. That is a big ask. We will likely have to get past ATL. We have one position player that could maybe get playing time on that team (Yelich). They are so much better than us. But anything can happen in a 7 game series when you start Burnes, Woody and Peralta (the way he is pitching of late). Our bullpen is World Series caliber as well. I'm not worried about the Braves or any other team. The general thought in Seattle's 116 win season in 2001 was that they were so much better than anyone else. They lost early in the playoffs. There are other examples of the best regular season teams not having post season success, and the worst regular season teams in the post season having success. Cardinals were 83-78 in 2006 and won the WS. Last year the Phillies barely made the playoffs and won the NL pennant. The point is to just get into the post season. Fans can then hope their team is healthy and hot in October. The five teams that won more than 90 games in the regular season are 1-12 in the post season. The Braves have the only win so far, and that was just barely. Just get into the post season. Then be healthy and hot. Let the randomness of baseball take over. Being the best throughout the season does not translate to winning in October. Winning in October translates to winning in October.

Being the best throughout the season does not translate to winning in October. Winning in October translates to winning in October. The Brewers did not win in October, for the same reason they lost enough games to have to play in the Wild Card round: anemic offense. It's hard to win with the best pitching the Brewers got if you can't score runs. It's impossible to win when your best pitchers are having off games and giving up leads too large for an anemic offense to overcome.

Just eliminate the Brewers in the postseason, and you will at least go to the WS. It's happened EVERY time in the history of the Brewers.

Second straight season the NL 6 seed has made the World series Which is why I laugh when someone posts on here that the Brewers could not beat a mighty regular season team like the Braves. Just be good enough to make the postseason. Everyone restarts at 0-0. The teams that are healthy and hot in October advance.

Milwaukee's Benedict Arnold & Brutus combined: Craig Counsell. and where exactly do you see betrayal and/or backstabbing ? Anyway, good for him (and I say that hating the Cubs in the worst way) . Highest salary for an MLB manager ever according to ESPN.

Is David Ross available ? I thought he did a great job for the Cubs. Although, he probably has more class than to go right to a division rival.

I guess I don't get being mad at CC or the brewers. The dude is getting his biggest paycheck of his life. Anyone on here whose saying they wouldnt do the same thing is a liar. IMO CC would never be able to win the WS in Milwaukee. Hes had teams that could of and I think he mismanages his teams every year going into the postseason and for sure in the postseason. Highest paid manager ever is hilarious for a guy whose never even been to the WS

Just listened to Mark Attanasio on WTMJ. He said had Counsell stayed with the Brewers he would have been the highest paid manager in baseball. He said Counsell told him about the decision this morning and did not give the Brewers another shot. Hmmm.
He also said the whole coaching staff will be retained. This only makes sense to me if the new manager will be hired from within.
Other than that, he sounded miffed. I hope he and Matt Arnold get past their emotional reaction quickly. Their upcoming decisions need to be objective, void of emotion.

I'm surprised at the hiring, I had expected him to go to the Mets. 8 mill a year for 5 years, is. extremely hard to turn down. I hold no ill will to Counsell, he's among the greatest coaches in Brewers history. He's going to a team that will spend a lot more than the Brewers will.
