Outside of the game and fun atmosphere, my favorite part of the night was listening to Rand on the postgame show praising Moses and BJ for their play. When Bol started to get more playing time at Rand’s expense, I was worried how that would impact his morale. But you can tell he’s genuinely excited for Bol to be playing well and even played a big part in getting him to where he is. And it sounds like he was texting Lundy saying they have to get Moses more involved after seeing how other teams were able to succeed by having a 7 footer. Very refreshing to hear that. Always tough to read Rand because of his body language. So hearing him talk (which to be honest, this was my first time) makes me like him even more.
I’m so happy to see Bol coming into his own and being a major contributor for us. Lundy always talked about recruiting talent and making sure he gets guys you want to root for. He wasn’t lying! I f***ing love this team!

Bart got a big standing O at Goolsby's. He's staking his claim on MKE. if he keeps winning like this.. we might be playing one day on Bart Lundy Court at the Arena.

A few quick takes from an upgraded spot on the Arena floor:
1, Ours is a big, fast, athletic team. When it plays with focus, the sky is the limit in this Horizon League.
2, I'm still in disbelief over Markeith's block. Not all of his qualities are NBA-caliber, but his closing speed, leaping ability & timing certainly are.
3, The officials still haven't figured out how to officiate Moses Bol. He spent much of the night playing at a high-major level defensively, but the refs made several bush-league calls against him (and I'm pretty sure that Ahmad was also robbed of a block).
4, As recently as a few weeks ago, I wondered who our clutch shot-maker, No. 1 scorer & go-to guy is, but worry no more. It's B.J. Freeman! If he's not on the league all-Newcomer team, they should launch a federal investigation.

I'm so damn happy to see a Milwaukee team work this hard again, and be coached this well. It's been 18 long seasons! And I know this isn't the same Horizon League that used to be ranked 10th to 12th in the country almost every year for decades, but even in the 21st rated NET conference out of 32 that we are today, this factoid from the post game story *really* means something, and says something about this coach and the players he recruited... "The victory improves the Panthers to 8-2 in league play, its best 10-game start in conference play since the 2005-06 campaign (9-1 that season)." mkepanthers.com/news/2023/1/21/mens-basketball-panthers-get-impressive-win-in-first-place-showdown-88-75.aspx

Also, it's refreshing to see honest attendance figures. I had hoped for 2,500 tonight, and had this game been a week later with students back, we may have had it. I can't wait to see our crowds continue to grow as this team continues to stack wins. The arena will be nearly full by Senior Night!

I f***ing love this team! Rand is definitely one of our 5 best overall players, and I'd love to see him - and Bol - get more minutes! Torvik's advanced analytics has Rand as our 3rd best all-around player, as in valuable, +/- sort of way. Freeman and Pullian being #'s 1 and 2: barttorvik.com/team.php?filter=all&year=2023&team=MilwaukeeI really enjoyed this interview he gave too: mkepanthers.com/news/2023/1/18/mens-basketball-roar-report-feature-getting-to-know-ahmad-rand.aspx

You are now in a case the last 2 two Saturdays with folks using them. So, it not a case of being honest. Teams don't list turnstiles numbers. While it's great people are using their tickets, it's disappointing the numbers are low. That's why it's critical to sell season tickets. Same holds true for the Brewers, Bucks. Admirals, Badgers and Marquette. You had another case of many not renewing after the PBJ disappointing season. New ticket staff member starts on Monday. Phone calls to folks who did not renew last year needs to happen.

Last night appears to prove that the team has come a long way in a short amount of time, but the program has a long way to go.

Has anyone had any luck with Panther Arena's lost and found? I left the game last night, went to Goolsbys and as I headed out, my keys were not in my pocket. They likely fell out under my seat.
Or if someone happened to pick them up in section 224 row 9, let me know 😉

Admirals, Badgers and Marquette. You had another case of many not renewing after the PBJ disappointing season. New ticket staff member starts on Monday. Phone calls to folks who did not renew last year needs to happen. So much to be stated... Bingo regarding the PBJ fiasco. Again, it turned into the latest "cry wolf" episode. Being so recent, it lingers in the public's perception more than any other past setback. Fool me once, shame on you...fool me twice, shame on me. Those of us who follow the program closely know we are not being fooled. But the general sports fan is slower to catch on.
Relevance diminished gradually following the glory years. It will take time to restore. Lundy and his team are doing their part. We would all like to see a lot more from the fan experience standpoint. The potential is there to make this THE SHOW on a consistent basis.
Successful turnarounds tend to have the biggest impact at the gate the following year. A good example of that is Brewers' attendance figures. They had bigger attendence in 1983 than their pennant year of 1982. Same for the year following subsequent resurgent seasons. An issue for the Panthers is that arena capacity limits the sense of urgency for advance ticket sales. Another key for this program is avoidance of jarring offseason setbacks, such as an APR ban, head coach departure, etc.
Having stated all this, the athletic department has an opportunity now to facilitate a larger bandwagon for the remainder of this season while the momentum is there. Get students and the general public there, and then get them to want to come back. I hope it is up to the task.
The most important thing about attendance for me right now is the quality of the crowd. It looked like an amazing atmosphere to be in last night. For once that actually came through on the webcast. I'm not sure but maybe better audio and live band music may have had something to do with that. The crowd excitement and appreciation shown at the end of the game was quite evident on TV. Thanks to all of you who contributed.

Cohill is a punk. What a sore loser. He said something to BJ in the line after the game. He’s super soft. Got a fan ejected for saying something that hurt his feelings too. Screw him. What I thought was funny too was he came out and was the only YSU player out there after the game, just sitting on the bench in his socks with a blank stare on his face. So happy we beat a guy like him.
