How did the University of Idaho get it's nickname, Vandals?
They go by a name earned nearly a century ago by a basketball team, coached by Hec Edmundson, whose team played defense with such intensity and ferocity that sports writers said they "vandalized" their opponents.
I have heard the game was very rough back in those days. The Vandals must have been very interesting to watch.

My Uncle Joe played varsity football and baseball there back in the day before the Great War broke out. Thoughts and prayers to all the good folks in Moscow who have been shaken by last month's horrific quadruple homicide. My heart is with them.

Today we return to Texas for the next installment of the series ... Tarleton State! City: Stephenville, Tex. Enrollment: 11,813 (fall of 2021). Nickname: Texans. I lived in Stephenville while my dad was teaching at Tarleton. At the time, Tarleton had just transitioned from a two year to a four year school (shortly after fire was discovered )

Nice to see three WAC schools already featured in this thread. The WAC has emerged as one the the best, if not the best, mid-major basketball conferences after the WCC. I will be seeing a couple of the teams on the list, Utah Tech and Seattle, as part of my GCU season ticket package.
