Well, we ALL can certainly agree that we've been a long way from mediocre for the last six seasons.

I feel like there is a lot of revisionist history regarding '09-'15. Just read the old threads during that time.

I feel like there is a lot of revisionist history regarding '09-'15. Just read the old threads during that time. And I think it’s fair to argue that it’s reasonable to say that we should expect better than mediocre from this program. Hopefully Coach Lundy starts us in the right direction.

I think the mood on the board about the program was less than mediocre at the time. I feel like those saying that range of time was better than mediocre are re-writing history.

As for Coach Lundy, I like everything I’m hearing from him and about him. I hope he really is open to working with the fans who really want something to get excited about. He sounded open to talking to the former players who made this program relevant over 15 years ago, and that’s great.
I’m probably putting things together that don’t belong together here, but AB and MM seemed to say a lot of good things at the press conference too. AB talked about wanting a winner and MM talking about how important basketball is to building a national audience and boosting enrollment. Perhaps this was all said at LaVall Jordan’s press conference and PBS’ press conference, but maybe they actually were hearing from fans. A lot of these arguments seem to be things that were brought up recently on the board, Twitter, and such. I know Adam Schemm is on this board, and from my experience and everything I’ve heard, he’s great. Perhaps he’s someone who has the same viewpoints most of us have and someone who Amanda Braun trusts enough to follow through on suggestions. Maybe I’m just being way too optimistic here, but I am a bit pumped up after seeing that press conference.
Of course, we will know more when we actually see results.

Some quotes from Chancellor Mone in his opening remarks today:
“Athletics is the front porch. It is the window. It is the way in which the community views any particular campus…”
“This is an opportunity to recognize something we think is very important for our visibility and for where we are going in the future.”
“We also know what a successful program can do for our brand, our enrollment, philanthropic support, and our community.”

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into what Mr. Coffee had to say. Lip service and platitudes don't make up for years of apathy on his part, in my view.

It really sounded as if they knew what they were talking about ... or had at least read this board. Go, Panthers!

The Bart & Bart Show. Winkler is always fair when talking UWM and roots for the program when warranted.
