Hahaha I spent way too much time trying to find a thread.
Will Carius had a bad game too. Hopefully they'll outdo that fifth place prediction!

Watched their game with Depaul the other night. Predictably, they are very well coached and have no quit in them.

Favored by 19.5 over lowly Eastern Illinois, the Leathernecks failed to cover the spread and won 71-54 behind 25 from Will Carius and Trenton Massner's 18/7/4 stat line.
Western Illinois is now 9-2, giving head coach Rob Jeter his 200th head coaching win.

WIU swept the North Dakota roadtrip. Their NET is 169.
I’ve been to their gym and it’s one of the worst in D1. Dark and dungeon-like. Macomb is an exceptionally remote location.
Jeter made a great assistant hire, who has deep ties in the Chicago recruiting pipeline. I don’t know how you’d recruit to Macomb otherwise.

Find talented juco kids that don’t have many other options which is a lot of what has happened

Jeter and Western got the 6 seed in the Summit Tourney and they play Oral Roberts in R1. This season they split the season series.

Jeter and Boudreau started from absolute ground zero last year and it will take them time, but they know how to do that and are already getting things moving. (Just like what will need to happen here after the AB/PBS era finally ends.) Western can score but they can't defend. They need to recruit some tough guys. Their track record says they will. Even still, checking kenpom they have won 16 games this year, and that's by far the most there since Jim Molinari took WIU to 22 wins and an NIT berth in 2013. WIU won 10, 8, 10, 8, 12, 10, 5 and 7 games in the following years. I envy that they are on an upward swing that is almost certainly long in the future for UWM.
