Anyone who is blaming the coaching doesn't know basketball. Baldwin played everyone and was trying out different lineups the entire game. They made adjustments at halftime and it showed in the second half. Baldwin could have kept Junior in the entire game. We would have won by double digits and the result would still have been meaningless. I'm not worried. There are some areas that need to improve, but this team has talent and that showed. Junior is legit. Gholston won't go without a bucket again. And this team has plenty of talented depth at guard. Can't wait for the first game of the season! It's going to be a great year! What rock have you been under for the past 4 seasons? I will continue to blame coaching, just as I have since Baldwin was hired, until the guy shows an actual ability to WIN. Beating a D-III team by 6, when the only rabbit in your hat plays 28 minutes, is just a continuance of the less than mediocre performances this head coach produces regularly.

My only real concern was they didn't match the energy of MSOE in the first half.
Baldwin did coach this as a exhibition game. Sat more than he does. Didn't use a timeout to stop a MSOE run.

The truth is your name on here but your lying like a rug on here period!!!!!! I don’t know what you saw we played terrible and it’s no excuses for it against a D3 team! You need to change your name and he couldn’t play PBJ all game because is ankle is still bothering him so know what you’re talking about before you come on here get your facts straight we have a right to say how we feel on this platform and will continue to say how we feel on here.also you can be deep on guards but how many can you trust when you need in a clutch situation ask yourself that and take time to think about it and answer it honestly and truthfully like your name is and let’s see what truthful answer you come with!

Tony - you are right. Guard play is going to be key this season. And I am glad they didn't play PBJ any more. But this was an exhibition. If they make half the layups they missed or a couple more wide-open 3s that rimmed out, this game isn't close. If players don't like his coaching, then why are they loaded with talent, especially a guard that could have left and not used his last year of eligibility?

And Tony, you said, "we have a right to say how we feel on this platform and will continue to say how we feel on here." Then quit being two-faced, as I have the right to my opinion and know a lot more about Panther basketball than some overbearing parent.

Again truth you have the right to say what you want here first off I’m nit two faced at all TRUTH!!!! and most likely You are one of the COACHES on the team!!!! I haven’t called asking questions about why you did this or that or anything about my son to any coaches so you can stop with that foolishness right now!!!!! and they asked him to stay and he wanted to stay so again. So again you don’t know what your talking about and if you are a coach get off of here messing with us and get a better game plan and figure these matchups for the 3 games so we can win a championship that’s all that matters to me now take that as truthfully as possible!

I have seen it suggested that perhaps it’s unfair to judge PBS’ job today since it was an exhibition game and he coached that way. PBJ had nearly 30 minutes, but JT had under 20, and I’m guessing that in a regular season game, PBJ plays a few of the final minutes.
Having said that, this is still a D1 program playing a D3 program. I know it’s a different team, but LaVall Jordan’s Panthers beat this program by 30 in his first game (or at least his first home game). And a lot of the problems we saw today were very similar to the problems we have seen with PBS’ teams in conference games in past seasons. An over reliance on jump shots. No real offensive game plan. No inside presence on offense (again, against a team with one player over 6’5”).
I hope he coached this like a practice more than a game, but I doubt PBJ gets 29 minutes if that’s the case, given his injury. And frankly, the Panthers should have won by double digits against MSOE even if their entire starting lineup plus JT was out.

I still can't figure out the offensive game plan. Way to many three's that are not even in rhythm. Super frustrating to see.

Just got home! It can be extremely frustrating to watch a team with more than adequate talent not play well. It was an exhibition game. Chemistry not yet there and way too many threes. Kind of tired of the three! But three pluses: Baldwin for real. Sinani got some ball IQ. Simms a great role player. The rest better pick it up. Lathon looked rusty but not as rusty as Deandre. Joey picked it up in second half. Newby looked rusty but not as rusty as Deandre. I thought these guys practice all summer. We may need a shrink on the staff.

Without the benefit of having seen the game, I would certainly like to think that we could beat MSOE by more than 6 with the size disparity and PBJ playing 28 or 29 minutes. After all, this isn't PBS's first go-round and there are more than a few veterans on the team.

It was a double figure game with a minute left. Ross got his first action and turned it over. The final was a six point game. The final 8 minutes weren't a six point game.
Perimeter defense was poor in the first half. Way too many three's in the first half. Yes, open looks. Yet, not in rhythm. Rebounding must improve.
I also believe other than Josh Thomas, everyone played their first game at UWMPA.

Love the fire and fury already this season! And we haven't even heard from our most provocative poster yet!
I am limited in my thoughts by what I see in the boxscore and listening to parts of the radio broadcast...
Truth's justification that PBS played everyone and was trying out different lineups the entire game does not hold much water. MSOE played more guys and spread the minutes among it's players as much or more than the Panthers did. No one on MSOE matched PBJ's 28 minutes.
Often the close inter-division games are because of sharpshooting from three by the lower division team's relatively smaller players (like the St Paul Concordia game of a few years ago). That wasn't the case today. The Panthers slightly outshot MSOE from three.
The only big disparity in the boxscore was fouls. Perhaps the Panthers had the advantage there because of a quickness and/or size advantage that a D1 team typically has.
The sample size is way to small to judge anything right now. We need to give it time. My biggest concern however, was listening to PBS in the post-game show. Although he admitted it is nice to have 10 days off to work on things learned from this game, he seemed way too satisfied with the effort. I wish he would not have such a carefully nice demeanor.
