My 2021-22 season expectations are not "bizzare" or "stunningly irrelevant." They are simply based on history over each of the past few years.
When things are going well, I expect a certain fellow poster to be relatively silent and perhaps take a temporary hiatus from here. When things are not going well, I expect him to post oft-rehashed scathing comments about the state of the program and various other posters.

I look forward to this board "taking leave of its senses" causing the annual hiatus.

What a bunch of timid souls. See, this is what she’s done to the program. It’s so beaten down, its fans so few and cowed, that even at the exact moment when you should be putting a stake in the ground that this is a 25 win, championship, tourney game winning outfit, you’re sure that the mere mention of any good possibility will jinx it all.
And by the way, CP — what “good times” are you talking about? We have endured six consecutive years of spectacular, relentless failure! We have one year of glorious possibility in front of us. Why not embrace it and have high expectations? After all, there’s very little to look forward to after this year unless profound changes are made.

And by the way, CP — what “good times” are you talking about? Oh, let me see. We do not have to go back very far in time for one of many examples. How about an unprecedent 24 point comeback in the last six and a half minutes of a 2021 HL quarterfinal tournament game to knock off a conference favorite? 14 pages of comments on the game thread, the last half of them after the successful outcome was known. Any reaction about the result from the referenced fellow poster in this game thread or other ones? Nope. Apparently, compliments and expressions of excitement toward the program are reserved only for eras when preferred administration and/or coaches are involved. It is very possible the referenced poster was simply offline and unavailable to post at that particular time. This would certainly be understandable. However, there are plenty of other examples of winning streaks (I know, not enough of them or as long as all of us would like) and impressive accomplishments in which the referenced poster seems to be incapable of or unwilling to provide any positive and balanced comments. There appears to be a six year pattern of silence in lieu of such comments, which sometimes has the feel of a temporary hiatus. It reminds me of the partisanship we see in national and state politics these days, in which opposing parties refuse to publicly acknowledge anything good in the opposition. But that's OK. This message board is for fun. I guess it is just a certain style that keeps things interesting here. As a bonus, I learn some fancy words along the way.😉

I do remember a certain poster under a previous preferred coaching staff would always say the only thing that mattered was winning the HL tournament and that all the rest of the games were to get ready for that. Now he wants people to pick 25 win seasons and all sorts of things that very rarely happened here.

That wasn’t so hard was it? So just to clarify, you mean just winning the HLT with none of the other accomplishments I noted? That seems like a surprisingly low expectation to me for this team. Do you want to explain why? Okay, who else wants to quantify their actual expectations? You want to to know my expectations, Fran? A simple record of .500 or above. This coach has not proven capable of that, so anything above and beyond that is "pie in the sky," in my opinion. I've equated it to rooting for the Brewers during the late 90s-early 2000s. When the Brewers went 81-81 in 2005, it was like the dark cloud finally floated away from Miller Park, and expectations could finally rise. I cannot truthfully expect any more from a guy with a 47-70 record, regardless of who is on the roster. At the point we hit win number 16,17, or whatever the half mark is, I'll raise expectations. At the same time, I won't poo poo anyone's "pie in the sky" at this juncture, either. Preseason predictions are fun.

As for my expectations, they never really change. I enjoy watching UWM basketball at The Panther Arena. It is the place I saw The Milwaukee Bucks enter The NBA. There, I saw my first MU game with my dad, Ed Hickey was the Head Coach and Hank Raymonds his assistant. Also watched a Charles Parsley coached team as a student at UWM. It is uncountable memories. As for this years team expectations I think BBFran is absolutely correct. They and the coaches should expect nothing less. They should also add a Sweet Sixteen appearance, an All American, average over 80 points per game. Hold the opposition to less than 35% shooting games. Lead the Horizon League in rebounding. Shoot over 78% as team from the line. Shoot 35% from three land and 48% overall. All our dreams will come true. Unless you want to get someone fired.

I’m with Fran. Expectations should be high. Bringing PBJ here is both a blessing and a curse for PBS. This team needs to make the NCAA tournament. Bottom line, that is what most fans, including me, care the most about. I don’t care how they get there, but anything short of NCAA tournament is a wasted year when you talk about the level of talent here. Most years I would be happy with an entertaining season filled with some good performances, but not this year. You talk about JT, Gholsten, Newby these are elite HL talents. Add a lottery pick and newcomers like Lathon and Kyle Ross, the expectations should be high. Damn high. Either this season is the jumping off point for a run of great Panthers BBall, or else it’s the end of an era. As much as I see improvement and potential in PBS, if you can’t win with this team, you can’t win.

Only concern for me is will team be conditioned to play up-tempo and press the hell out of opponents and probably looming larger as an unknown (I think this has been mentioned)- how will the '21-'22 Panthers fair in rebounding? (esp. offensive reb)
We have these big men below. And no knock on any of them but we haven't seen much of VBJ, while PBJ is known far more for his shooting than his rebounding and post play (though I would expect, in a season where he will be watched by many NBA scouts and will be playing against relatively smaller sized competition most games, this will improve greatly).
But overall, rebounding and post play is a concern until one or hopefully 5-6 of these guys turn out to be efficient to phenomenal board collectors.
C SR Samba Kane 7-0 SF SR Tafari Simms 6-7 SF SR Vin Baker, Jr. 6-9 SF FR Patrick Baldwin Jr. 6-9 PF FR Kyle Ross 6-7 F JR Vincent Miszkiewicz 6-7
and Moses Bol if playing this season?
Reassuring is the fact that Gholston avg'd 5.2 reb last season, and JT and Simms 4 a piece. Amir Allen had by far the most offensive rebounds (60!, the next guy had 20) and with him gone.. it's a concern until it isn't.
Offensive rebounds, high percentage 3pt shooting and a feared defense are keys to a regular season and HLT title and hopefully much, much more (imo). It'll be interesting to see what happens. I have no idea what to expect but the pieces mos def appear to be in place.

Victor
Actually Same and Vincent are not eligible this year but Moses Bol is.....also have to add in Joey St Pierre who could be a real dark horse in the overall mix here.

According to Panther Roster Kane is a Redshirt Junior and eligible for season 21-22. I believe he got clearance as a portal transfer to play. Bol is a graduate transfer and eligible as well. That would give us 3 true post players and allow both Baker and Baldwin to be on the floor in one heck of a zone when we get that 20 point lead we are anticipating. If one of the transfers is not eligible someone should update the roster.

As of today, Vincent Miszkiewicz is the only one that will be sitting. Everyone else is set to go and the roster website reflects that in their bios.
