Thought on Tafari Simms. He was a superstar in the game vs IUPUI. Can he bring that in most games?

Well, stinks not having the sun out today. Warmer weather for the weekend. Time is flying this fall. As for my expectations, they are fear. Something will go wrong. It's now or never for Coach Baldwin. He needs to make huge strides. The roster looks great on paper for a HL school. Excited to see what Lathon can do! What can Vin Baker Jr bring to the team? Fellas glad to back talking hoops! So let’s this party started here’s my concerns First I don’t know who’s going to be the point Somebody having problems bringing the ball down. And I really don’t know where VBJ is going to fit he will be fighting for minutes and the Bigs scare me the most Amir Allen is better than all the Bigs this year which really is saying something I’m hoping Big Joey can be a X factor we some one to rebound and take up space Simms will help but pls don’t get stuck on shooting three’s your scouting report is out and no team is falling for that stuff this season. And the most dangerous thing in this team is coaching PLEASE PLAY TO THE STRENGTH OF YOUR TEAM. which means none of that 1991 northwestern style of play !!!! Run the floor with this team and release the dragons!!!! you got three of tge best players in the whole entire conference on your team play to there strong points no more 45 different plays keep it sweet and simple and tweak as needed and press more against team that can’t match your speed. As you can see I’m fired up and ready for some hooping to start. So, in two words the worries as of today are point guard and rebounding?

I wound have to think that between Lathon, JT and Newby… we should be able to find someone who can handle the point. If not, then we could be in for some trouble. But with shooters and playmakers (which we have), we shouldn’t need an all-conference PG to win. Just someone who doesn’t turn it over.
As far as rebounding… it’s a little concerning that we have two 7 footers who may be struggling with this. They don’t seem to be strong scoring threats so the main thing we need from them is to get some boards. Hopefully that’s something they improve on but I’ll save my final thoughts until I see them in action.
Expectations for me are to win the conference. Worst case this season, we should be playing in the NIT. Best case, we make a run in the tourney but I know how hard it is to win the conference tournament so I don’t want to judge success based solely on a week’s worth of games. But it would be disappointing to not make it with this lineup but a decent consolation prize would be an NIT run. Trying to not set the bar too high given where we’ve been the last few years.

Speaking of Amir Allen, did he go somewhere else and use his extra year?

Speaking of Amir Allen, did he go somewhere else and use his extra year? Not sure where he’s playing but I know he signed with an agent back in April. scoutbasketball.com/player/Amir-Allen

I loved the play of Amir Allen but seriously if any of the three post players on the current roster can’t equal his production we have a problem. I can remember watching last years scrimmage and how St. Pierre outplayed Amir. He was more aggressive, had more rebounds, and looked the part of an Horizan League big. No disrespect to Amir who held his own against the completion. We now have more size with PB jr. and rebounders like Deandre and Josh. If the Bigs understand their roles we shouldn’t have a problem. Let us hope!

I can't believe we have nearly two pages dancing around the very simple question posed here, including a bizarre and stunningly irrelevant sidetrack about LeBron James's vax status, transparently for no better reason than that it allowed further avoidance of the subject at hand.
This isn't hard. We are told that the greatest recruit -- by far -- in the history of the Horizon League has joined our program. We are told that we have a strong roster besides him, including, allegedly, two of the best players in the league. We have recruited more height than nearly any or perhaps any Milwaukee roster has had. We are about to begin year six post-teardown, year five of PBS's tenure (and allegedly the last year of his contract). We have endured a dizzying slide from perennial contention in a strong league to bottom dweller status in a terrible league. We haven't had a single winning season in five years after having winning seasons in six of the previous eight years.
And nobody wants to answer the question!?
Unless you have given up on the men's hoops program at Milwaukee forever, these should be the minimum expectations for this allegedly nonpareil Milwaukee roster:
25 wins Top 100 RPI at season's end Top two finish in the HL regular season Champion of the HL tourney NCAA seed higher than 15 At least 1 NCAA tourney win
We have endured five years of abject failure in this program with utterly nothing to look forward to or give us hope except the possibility that we would -- for one year only -- be the beneficiary of the accident of fate that our coach's son was one of the nation's elite prospects, and would choose to matriculate here. This is that one year. The expectations of every Milwaukee fan should be at least as high as I just stated. If they aren't, what the hell was the last five years about!?
Can you imagine how the fanbases at Cleveland or Wright or Northern Kentucky or UIC or Green Bay would be glowing and gloating right now if a PBJ level recruit was joining their program? Apparently the powers that run our program have succeeded in beating most of the few fans that remain into placid submission.
"Oh, let's just have a beer and chill at the games. Que sera sera, you know."
Wow.

Cool story bro.
If anyone posted the high expectations that you laid out, you would be killing them because of their over excitement of having PBJ.

So what are you saying, FTA? That it's unfair to have high expectations? That you expect more failure? That even with the league's greatest recruit ever this program can't succeed?
Lay it on us, "bro." What do YOU expect the team to do? If you think success is measured differently than I defined it, fine. Tell us what the measure is -- and defend it.

My expectations are winning conference and making the NCAA tournament. I havent waivered from that since PBJ signed.
All I said was you would've killed anyone on this board who had the expectations you defined in your post. So basically either way you would've written a Fran essay talking about how wrong everyone is, how the program is a failure and how the fanbase has disappeared. It's the same tired story from you.

That wasn’t so hard was it? So just to clarify, you mean just winning the HLT with none of the other accomplishments I noted? That seems like a surprisingly low expectation to me for this team. Do you want to explain why?
Okay, who else wants to quantify their actual expectations?
