Can it really be 30 -- THIRTY -- degrees colder than it was just three days ago? Feels like basketball weather, folks. As luck would have it, the season is now only a little over a month away! What are your expectations with PBJ, the No. 4 recruit in the COUNTRY, in the fold and with the team returning two other major contributors from a year ago?

Well, stinks not having the sun out today. Warmer weather for the weekend. Time is flying this fall.
As for my expectations, they are fear. Something will go wrong. It's now or never for Coach Baldwin. He needs to make huge strides. The roster looks great on paper for a HL school. Excited to see what Lathon can do! What can Vin Baker Jr bring to the team?

Let’s hope everyone stays healthy. Lot of unknowns can make one wonder what will happen this season. Are the 7 footers for real? Can Lathon shoot consistently and from distance? Will point guard be a problem or an area of strength? Can Vin Baker Jr. play inside instead of outside? Three knowns are Gholston, Thomas, and Baldwin Jr. and they are for real. I like that threesome even without Lucas. Lathon could better than Lucas who shot the ball terribly last year. That would give us four solid D1 players. Newby and Hanc*** hopefully will be better and stronger. Simms will provide a spark vs certain matchups. St Pierre might be that bruiser to go after smaller Horizon League posts. It killed me to watch Cleveland State kill us inside not to mention Wright St and the rest. I think the staff is improved with the addition of Winans and Hanson coming from quality schools and head coaches. The team needs people in the seats to set the tone. It could be a fun year.

I have no expectations. Or rather, I have no worries. If we make the tournament, great! If we win games in the tournament, better! If we don't make the tournament, that'll be all she wrote for Baldwin! If we finish fourth or fifth and miss the postseason and Baldwin is extended, there will be no more arguments in support of Braun's job (Amanda, not Andy)!
I'm gonna sit back, enjoy some beers, enjoy some basketball and enjoy being around everyone again.

Good find PNP. While I have always been impressed with the way Josh Thomas carries himself on the court, he sounds just as impressive off. If it is true that only about half the team is vaccinated, that would be very disappointing. Why would anyone on the staff or team not get vaccinated? This question applies in so many aspects of life. With respect to the team, the guys should do what is necessary to increase their chances of staying healthy, being available when called upon and not jeopardize the health and availability of teammates. The sports adages "take one for the team" and "team chemistry" have never been more appropriate than in this situation. Hopefully the program can exert some influence on everyone in the program to do the right thing.

This off-season has been really fun. I’ve had the opportunity to talk Panthers Basketball with a lot of friends I never expected to take an interest in Panther BBall, all because of PBJ (and the returning Seniors). The public finally has high expectations for this team. Will those expectations be realized? I believe so. I think despite his many faults , PBS typically has the team playing decent towards the postseason. I think with the influx of talent, this team will make a run. If they don’t perform well, then next off season will also be an exciting one.
I think Newby will be a BIG contributor this season. He showed great ability as a freshman, and I think he will have a breakout year. We know he can shoot.
I also think Kyle Ross will be a big time player for us this year.

I would hate to be like that team in the College World Series that couldn’t advance to the championship series , because they didn’t have enough players to play due to a covid outbreak. It’s on Coach to talk to these young men and get that vaccination rate up.

When you have NBA players like LeBron James who is not vaccinated. How do expect the young college players who many of these players look up to get the vaccine?

Do we know if Lebron is vaccinated or not? I'm pretty sure he hasnt said anything publicly about it either way.

Yet, he has not said it publicly. He avoided the topic, which is odd, since he runs his mouth about everything else.

The tribal mentality that adversely affects society is frustrating in all respects. Anyone intelligent enough to go to college should be capable of obtaining available credible data to assess their own situation. If they would do that, the decision to get vaccinated would be crystal clear. Back to the context of this thread, if half the players go into and through the season unvaccinated, it becomes even harder to develop any expectations.

Let's say that LeBron had played one year for a mid-major. How far would it have advanced in the tournament?

Fellas glad to back talking hoops! So let’s this party started here’s my concerns First I don’t know who’s going to be the point Somebody having problems bringing the ball down. And I really don’t know where VBJ is going to fit he will be fighting for minutes and the Bigs scare me the most Amir Allen is better than all the Bigs this year which really is saying something I’m hoping Big Joey can be a X factor we some one to rebound and take up space Simms will help but pls don’t get stuck on shooting three’s your scouting report is out and no team is falling for that stuff this season. And the most dangerous thing in this team is coaching PLEASE PLAY TO THE STRENGTH OF YOUR TEAM. which means none of that 1991 northwestern style of play !!!! Run the floor with this team and release the dragons!!!! you got three of tge best players in the whole entire conference on your team play to there strong points no more 45 different plays keep it sweet and simple and tweak as needed and press more against team that can’t match your speed. As you can see I’m fired up and ready for some hooping to start.
