Y'know, after looking into it...I think it's gonna be an internal hire. Or he just hated living in Utah...

Has a new women's coach been announced...I haven't seen anything from Athletics?! I find it hard to believe that is has taken this long to find a replacement. The women's team has had a strong track record over many years. I would think that the team is a great coaching destination.

I've not seen any news since the search and screen committee convened to start the search back in December.

He certainly has the credentials you look for.
The Panthers have done a decent job recruiting players from various places to go along with their strong recruiting results in the midwest, especially Wisconsin, Illinois and Minnesota. I wonder if Coach Boyd will be able to get more west coast players to come to Milwaukee.

Boyd was by far the best. Not an insult to him, but they need to pay more because yes, this should be a decently desired destination.

Candidates weren’t good yet we ended up with a guy who has over 2 decades of head coaching experience in the pac-12 and 13 tournament experiences. Seems like we did just fine.

Seems like we did just fine.[/quote] I want this new guy to succeed as much as the next person, but just because you hired someone who looks good on paper doesn't mean they'll work out. And no, they've been incredibly fortunate to have people overachieve who want to be in the Milwaukee area because it's a good city with a rich soccer history. Moynihan overachieved for over a decade. He never would have left but the dipsh*t AD at the time never countered his offer from Northwestern. So he left a program he otherwise would have stayed at forever. When he left, the candidate pool was garbage. Because everyone knew the pay scale. The guy they hired was their fourth offer. The first three said no because of money. Let that sink in...a program that was ranked in the top-10 the year before... That guy nearly sank the program. When they fired him, again the candidate pool was nothing. Fabiano was the third choice. The first candidate said no because she was just using the whole situation as a way to get a promotion at the school she was at. The second choice pulled out because he was getting yanked around and didn't appreciate it. Fabiano said yes. He overachieved. I'd hope people pay attention to this because it's one of the historic programs not only of the school, but the city and region. Usually a school like that has a choice of multiple people for coaching hires...and not "Oh gee, I hope they say yes...Let's all cross our fingers because otherwise we're rolling the dice with the D3 hire again." It's not a bad thing to hold things you care about to higher standards than "yeah, well, I'm sure we'll be fine."

BP Knows that. What he is really asking is: why does the winningest coach at UC-Berkeley AND Arizona State end up being associate head coach (and in the same conference!)?

Quinn, this is why I love this board/community. We all know things others don't, and can all learn a thing or ten from one another. I really appreciate you being willing to share your knowledge and insight.

Looks like it was nothing nefarious, and we possibly just got extremely lucky with the timing for both him and our program, after losing IMO one of the best coaches in the entire nation to UK. phxfan.com/2016/11/10-years-soccer-coach-kevin-boyd-leaving-asu/
