Oof, NKU looked like the team Milwaukee needed to beat until that YSU loss (Milwaukee beat YSU 7-0)...now the Norse have 3 straight HL losses after being unbeaten since the start of last year I was hoping NKU would win their match with Oakland and give Milwaukee a bit more breathing space at the top of the standings, but the Grizzlies dominated the Norse. The Panthers hung on to get the win against NKU at home, and they are playing Oakland on the road. I expect the Panthers will win, but i expect Oakland to make it another 90 minute battle.

Both Green Bay and Milwaukee knew going in to tonight's match that they had made the HL Tournament field. The Panthers are locked in as the top seed, meaning they have a bye into the semifinals on November 4th at Engelmann Stadium. The Phoenix were assured a spot in the field, but their final seeding depended on how the other matches tonight finished.
The Panthers got the win, 1-0.
Oakland had clincHed the second seed with its bye into the semifinals. They finished their season with an overtime road win over Detroit Mercy, who finished out of the running for a tournament bid.
Cleveland State defeated Purdue Fort Wayne 1-0, slotting the Vikings as the fifth seed and the Mastodons as the sixth seed, leaving the Phoenix as the fourth seed and gave them a first round home match.
Northern Kentucky went on the road for their season finale. They clinched the third seed with a 2-1 win, snapping a four match losing streak.
The first round matches will happen on Sunday afternoon: Purdue Fort Wayne will play at NKU and Cleveland State will play at Green Bay.

ELAINA LAMMACHIA!!!!!!!! MY GOD WHAT A PERFORMANCE The Panthers had two, count 'em, two shots on goal, and scored the only goal. LaMacchia was called on to make some tough saves, and showed why she's the top goalkeeper in D1 Women's Soccer. Next up is #1 seed Virginia.

He did a hell of a job rebuilding the program. Anyone familiar enough with women's college soccer to know who could be candidates here? The only one I ever backed was David Nikolic and now he's running UIC.
This hire could either continue our dominance or move us back to the pack. David's going to have UIC turned around pretty quickly. He recruits the Great Lakes very well.

If we had a competent athletic director, they would immediately offer David Nikolic whatever it takes to lure him back.

If we had a competent athletic director, they would immediately offer David Nikolic whatever it takes to lure him back. Competent AD or not, what would it take to entice a really good coach to come back to a program that repeatedly passed him over? As for rebuilding the program, Coach Fabiano took over a program that had one bad season under a bad coach. Was that really a rebuilding project when he had them back in the mix his first season and back at the top in their accustomed position of dominating the league in his second season? That's not meant to denigrate Troy Fabiano in any way. He's clearly a great coach.
