Ah yes!!! The days of Pete Ward, Hoyt Wilhelm and No Neck Williams. Went to almost everyone!!! Sox teams were indeed the Hitless wonders!!! Then 1977, na na hey hey and South Side HIt Men, Caray and Piersall on the radio but most importantly Bill Veeck. Talk about breaking the mold!!! Veeck had a great tie to Milwaukee most obviously owning the Brewers in the 40's, then campaigning effectively to get Milwaukee County to build the stadium even without a team with the "if you build it they will come" mentality. Veeck actually was ready to move the St Louis Browns to Milwaukee with that in mind but the neanderthal owners at the time froze him out and he had to sell to Baltimore and they became the Orioles. Veeck always a huge advocate for Milwaukee. Still miss the old Comiskey Park as the new park is more like a shopping mall. Miss the smells, Andy the Clown, south side Irish punks fighting in the stands....Friendly confines it was not. But great!!!!

Was rough and tumble there. When Reinsdorf took over they had some cute Disney like mascots Ribbie and Roobarb....They got rid of the mascots when some drunk beat the sh- - out of Ribbie up in the upper deck. True story

Sadly, the summer I lived in Chicago was the strike summer, 1981. I was only able to get to 1 game at Comiskey before the strike, and by the time the strike ended I was getting ready to leave. Took the El to get there of course! Saw no games at Wrigley. Still haven't.

you beat me to Kareem, skrap. But how about Vin Baker Sr.? Wait, we already have his kid. No need. I know! Could we lure Showalter from Dominican? I mean he's practically right down the street. Or maybe it's time for Bo to come out of retirement! P.S. Anyone who seriously thinks Shay as a candidate is any less of a joke than any of the above must also be assuming that we will have a new athletic director. Allow me to bluntly interpret this post from Fran, for clarity to help our new poster jmartin: Jason Shay will not be hired as the head coach here by the current athletic director or administration NOT because he may not be qualified, NOT because he comes from the Pearl years, but BECAUSE he is a white male. That is why it won't happen. I'm not a lawyer, so I won't parse words. It is what it is.

That's some wild, wacky stuff.</JohnnyCarson> I had heard the Orioles had originally been the Milwaukee Brewers, but I did not know that Veeck tried to return the franchise to Milwaukee. If he had been able to do so, I wonder where the Boston Braves would have ended up.

Not really, SOB. I’m actually referring to something else.
But let’s face it. Based on her first two picks we don’t actually have any reason to believe the next coach she chooses will be any more able to build a contending program. And considering where the program is now, it’s going to take someone far better than she’s likely to identify or attract just to dig us out of the hole she threw it in.

Our next coach I am bringing up is Jeff Boschee. He is currently at Missouri Southern St. Has done well there, is young and played college ball at Kansas. He is originally from North Dakota, so I think he could recruit well. He was Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American. Just my take, I want someone from that D2 pedigree, hungry and ready to prove their worth. He certainly would command respect right away for past accomplishments.

Another interesting one would be Andy Bronkema from Ferris St in Michigan.

Good finds nickpanther78! Proven winners! Assuming a personality that can promote the program, I would be pleased with either of those hires. I've been advocating for that ever since BP waived to the Panther fans while walking off the floor in Rosemont for the final time as our head coach.
But why would the university possibly choose to go with the only hiring strategy that has ever worked well at this institution?

Congrats on getting Pat Jr... Great story him playing for his dad, and looking forward to seeing how he performs in college next year.
Can someone help to settle a debate on the Duke board we're having???
Did Pat Sr get an extension? Or is this upcoming season (as of now) the last he is currently contracted for?
Thanks

Thanks Not that we know. No extension. Yet, MKE doesn't really put things like that out on press releases.
