So what do you guys think the roster will end up looking like next year? Early Starting 5 predictions?

Today’s news makes the roster more positively unknown. With so many in the transfer portal, I wonder how much that might sway someone to jump over here.

Hopefully Lathon was close with a couple of his old UTEP teammates who are currently in the portal 🤞🤞🤞🤣

We really don’t need much honestly. We have a good PG in Newby, who could transcend to great going into his sophomore season. His lights out shooting will take pressure off of the other guys, and really we will need him to grow as a facilitator.
JT plays D and can fill it up when we need him to, and he’s clutch. Dree fills it up with ease and will be a great compliment to PBJ. Lathon seems to be highly regarded. We just added some size. Not sure what we have with Vin Baker Jr , but he could be a great fit with this roster as well.
We could use a player or two maybe, but as it stands, this should be the most talented roster in the Horizon league.

My guess is that Milwaukee will be looking at the graduate transfer list to add a few key pieces this year. PBJ will very likely only be here this year and as far as we know, PBS’ contract still ends after this year. If PBS wants to remain a D1 head coach, he likely knows he has to win this year, and adding players whose top priority is to make the tournament (even as a 14 or 15 seed) and who want no long term commitment after PBJ is in the NBA seems to make sense.
I’m not thinking Milwaukee will get any other top tier players, but perhaps a player at the level of Darius Quisenberry or TeJon Lucas (both of whom I know are not coming to Milwaukee but were the first two conference transfers I could think of) who really wants to make the tournament would consider Milwaukee over a lower level high major program.

I would guess we could land a solid grad transfer or two at the caliber you suggested. Being able to guarantee guys the chance to play along side a top 5 recruit and play in front of NBA scouts every night is huge.

These are the current scholarship, is right?
Newby Hanc*ck Lathon Gholston Simms Baker, Jr. Thomas Sinani Miszkiewicz Kane Baldwin, Jr. Ross Bol
One open spot (Josh Thomas has exception for his extra year), is correct?
If TREY ALEXANDER comes the team would make a quality leap, but if some others 4/5star players will come, who would you send away?
Sinani? Hanc***? Others?

It would appear that we're trying to add at least two more. College basketball in 2021. Let the guessing games begin!

We are in good hands at guard with Newby, JT and Dree. I’m guessing PBJ may play some guard or guard/forward too, despite his size. We have yet to see Lathon as a Panther, but rumor has it he’s good. If Trey Alexander comes, great, it would help our depth. That said , Hanc*** and Sinani both show a lot of promise, and I wouldn’t want to see either player leave. Not sure how the forward situation will work out, but at this time IMO we have more question marks there. Kyle Ross should def factor in right away. Bol is likely a better student than Player (no offense to the young man, but he gets really good grades). The only player I see who may be an “odd man out” may be Simms. No offense to Tafari, but he likes to shoot, a lot, and that may not be a need considering the makeup of next years team. I think we have a great squad as it sits right now. Tafari can come off the bench with a lot of energy, and I hope he stays. That said, to answer your question, I wouldn’t send anyone away, but if there is a player who may be less of a fit on this squad given it’s current makeup, it may be him.

A real wild card for me is Vin Baker Jr. Has anyone seen him practice or play? Have no idea how good he is or not.

Do we know that Patrick Baldwin Jr. is taking a scholarship? Perhaps he isn’t on scholarship this year, leaving an extra scholarship available.
I agree, it’s a really crummy thing to do to kick a student athlete in good standing off scholarship.
